That's a great picture of your system with the loaner 700 B, Joe. it was probably too late last night for a performance trial, but it sure would be nice to hear that your Bose 901s have found a soul mate.

I think I'd have to TRY, to blow them, in order to blow them. There's quite a bit of heat dissipation with 18 voice-coils. Being that these are rated for amplifiers up to 450wpc, this amp is not a bad match. Even at pretty loud volumes, this amp isn't putting out anywhere near it's rated output. I could go down to the local gun shop and grab some hearing protection, then try to blow them. But it wouldn't seem practical lol.

The sound quality of this amp, with these speakers, is really impressive. Way better then my lil tube integrated. That's really my main curiosity. So far so good. I'm already sad that I'm going to have to part with it.

I'm like 3-4hrs from Clinton FYI.

Thanks Nando, I took that pic this AM and I'm listening now. I go in this afternoon so I have some time for audition. I think this is a really good amp for these speakers so far. Outta my league on price it would seem though. Big solid state seems to be the way to go with 901's, which I'm more convinced of now.

Tell me a bit about the current draw on this beast....

I decided to push things a bit with Lorde's "Royals" (try this song - a TON of deep bass).
I had the meters set on -20db and was tacking them out so I switched over to 0db.
Had it bouncing into the red and the whole house was shaking.
Everything still sounding awesome, crazy bass, vocals still clear..
But then...
It sounded like my music stream phone was "skipping" and then speeding up a bit! Music cut in and out, then some harsh "squealing".
Last time something like that happened, I had a big amp that would cause a DAC to freak out when I powered it up!

Being that this amp is even bigger, I'm thinking that having it all in the same surge protector, might cause issues with other components? This is probably one of those amps that deserve its own dedicated 20amp outlets? Yes? I have one here in the room...

You might try that Joe. It will draw close to 25 when romping on it...

And monitor heatsink temp. If you are getting radical you need some moving air over the heatsinks.

Alright. I did it for a short period and the sinks got just warm to the touch. Had my wife come in then I cranked it up, she was like wow!, that sounds awesome!, let me go outside and see if I can hear it out there. (I thought that it was cool she wanted to do that lol). My window blinds were flapping around from the air currents coming out of the ports.

Did you find the overdrive on it yet??? It gets loud then louder and louder! Then when u hit overdrive it gets crazy!! I had the meters pegged once but that's when my woofer went lol

Odb is 200 watts, burying the meters is essential...
