And remember residual noise and distortion are two separate beasts, one can affect the other yes, but anything under .25%THD & N is inaudible anyway (debateable). The WOPL's are damn close to that spec in the 20-20,000 range. Sometimes beating that figure, and where it exceeds it is at the high frequencies, look at the table for the distotion spec, at 20 k it's good , at 1k its good , below 1k it's excellent. It's all frequency dependent, as most things in audio.

And these arguments will never stop because your hearing test units are not like mine. Therein lies the point bwhich all arguments are hung, it doen't "sound" that way to me, so WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU??

Sound familiar. So when trying to define a piece of equipments performance does not necessarily define how it will sound. Tubes will not test good in THD & N compared to SS but to a tube lover it's manna from heaven...

Irregardless, they sound kickass to everyone that hears them. I think a little more info about the private shootout would be helpful also though I suppose it would be irrelevant by your argument that hearing is subjective. I figure that the individuals doing the shootout are repected memebers of the audiophile community so that carries some weight

I am going to step back and take a breath, my mind is racing like a F1 car and sometimes that's a bad thing LOL

To ME, the wopls are the best "sounding" amps I've ever "heard" not the best "tested" amps I've ever heard. Of course the best tested amp hasn't been turned on for 2 years and you can bet your ass if it sounded better it would be turned on first, yes I have a lot of time and energy invested in the WOPL philosophy but if they didn't "sound" better I wouldn't be on the bandwagon. At 58 years old and somewhat crusty I don't really give a flying fuck about someone telling me what i "should" do or think, or say, or believe, but my ears do.....and I believe em...

The shootout was 6 guys sittin around listening to music. We could have made that up, that's why the 700 is making a tour, THE ONLY way to believe is to HEAR...

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you just said. Someday I will need to hear one of the Spec amps just to satify my curiosity. About the 6 guys... these Brothers spent big dollars on some of the amps that the WOPL beat. Most people would defend their amps they just sunk a ton of money into. This is why I feel it's somewhat relevant. To admit you blew money thinking you were getting "more" and then freely admit that something else cheaper in price smoked it is commendable. A lot of people could not do that. It was easy for me... the BEST amp I ever owned was a Mark Levinson 333 using a Krell KRS-1 preamp. I thought that was the cats meow but hearing a WOPL with a shitty Carver preamp and knowing the latter was beaten is an awakening. I do not live by ego, I have no brand name allegience. Even to Gibson guitar's I might add, they work for me. This is sort of the same deal. I DO have allegience to the WOPL and will be quite satisfied to run them until I die and then I hope my son Jake will take up the banner. He has been showing an interest in audio equipment which to me is a godsend in the iPod dominated society we live in now

Hey thank you gents. The amp should be here tomorrow!
Get ready for a show!! Your gonna have so much fun!!
fyi how when I got it the board had come loose on the studs. So you might want to check that and make sure it's still snug on the bottom stud there is no spacer so don't tighten that to much!

Yep good Ol iPhone.
heres a ? For somebody smart. Can I run my dac direct to WOPL and use my computer volume??
I don't know exactly what you got there, but you may be able to. Try hooking to anything else and see if the PC volume effects it. Watch out for big "pops" though!?!
