No transformer. They don't ship well in an envelope! But the power supply board & caps are included free. Needs 9-12V AC .

No, you née 60 volt center tapped secondary transformer, BEFORE rectification. That gives you +/- 42 volts on the rails...

Thank you & yes I'm shopping for under ten dollar preamp now. Im not an audiophile, so I NEED tone controls.

Very nice for the price. The NE553x is a very good sounding Op-amp, used in a lot more expensive gear like the SAE 2900 I use.

Also suggest you use a 15w soldering iron. Like:

I prefer the old thin blue one without the LEDs, but I don't see it around atm.

Alright. Thank you for the advice. I've been using a Stahl digital soldering station. If fixed is better, I'll grab one.

That should be fine. Just be carful not to use too much heat and keep some solder wick handy for sopping up excess.
