I finally got a nice sounding system set up in my workshop. WOPL 700B, Carver C-4000 preamp and Dahlquist DQ-10s.

That's a very nice way to toil away the time. Your work shop is too clean. What kind of work do you do in it?

Nando.

Been living in it for the last 9 months while our house was being built. Just moved into the house a couple of weeks ago so am currently getting the shop emptied out of moving boxes and organized so I can do some vintage hi-fi restoration work in it. Have an all original Dynaco ST35 coming up as the first project.

Nice! DQ-10s were my introduction to high-end audio. Used to listen to them at Anderson Audio in Nashville with a big H-K amp, the Advent Receiver used as a preamp and a Thorens TT. It was my first real WOW moment while listening to stereo.

Nice system. I like the metered amp for the DQs as those meters will be moving...alot.

That is a workshop? Really?

Heck my soundroom with double DQ-10s doesn't look that neat.

Selective framing of the photo......the rest of the shop is pretty much an unorganized mess at this time. Added this Harmon Kardon T30C a couple of days ago. It is running a Sumiko Bluepoint No. 2 cartridge.

I agree. The very first stereo shop I worked at sold them and they didn't spin my crank.
Yea evidently the Audio dealer must have had problems selling them also when I was at his studio he had a nice array of Speakers but kept on pushing the Dahlquist and was switching back and forth via a speaker switcher all but the Dalquists were using the same amp pre-amp except the Dahlquist which used a different pre/amp that had the Bass pumped up, when I flattened out the pre the sound changed. i told the guy I might have bought a different set of speakers from him didn't like the game he played and left

I'm really enjoying these Marantz Imperial 5s, not big thumpers but the presence is definitely there and they convey rumble with warmth all around.

They are being fed by a Sony TA-AX520 AV integrated amplifier, TC-FX6C cassette deck and a Nikko FAM-450 tuner.

It's one tiny board for a really neat tuner but the geared tuning capacitor is a neat touch and it tunes in very well. The bi-pin red LED for the stereo indicator is out but it's not attached to the pointer at least. The AM sound is pretty nice as well and it doesn't overload from the 5,000 watt station down the road (very solid, no birdies or spurs). The case is wooden but it's topless at the moment.
