    Best OPPO CD/SACD Player?

When I built my home audio A/V system back in 2017, I bought an Oppo UDP-203. The UDP-205 was just too over-the-top for pricing for my needs in an A/V system. The UDP-203 is in the rack slot below the Sony TC-WR97ES dual-well cassette deck. I, also, use a Pioneer CLD-95 Reference LaserDisc...

    Cassette lovers; why?

I have been fooling around with the compact cassette format since I was 12, or so. The first deck I used to record with was one of those Lloyds portable shoe box player/recorders. I bet it is still socked away in my mom's old storage trunk full of mothballs and her Italian linen. I have lots of...

    what are you listening to?

I picked up a Sony TC-WE405 dual well cassette deck at the thrift store last week and Bat Out Of Hell was in the tape bay. I have been listening to the pre-recorded tape a few times over, although I have the tape and record from 1977. Can't do much better for a band's debut album. Nando.

Open-Reel Tape Experiences -The Good & Bad

Quantegy 480 I bought a carton (12 tapes) of Quantegy 480 7" reels, new, when it was still being sold at a Burnaby wholesaler. I like this tape as much as the Maxell XLI. I may have six tapes remaining as the others were used for recordings I sent off in open-reel mix tape exchanges. Nando.

Open-Reel Tape Experiences -The Good & Bad

I continue to buy used tape. Recently, I bought a Pioneer PR-101 take-up reel for my Pioneer RT-909, a Maxell MR-10 take-up reel and a Maxell UD 35-180 reel of recorded music - all from the same seller for a great price. The recording was so-so @ 3.75 i.p.s., but not bad selection of tunes. I am...

Getting As Bad As Jim For Waving The Teac/Tascam Flag

I thought it was just a gussied-up version of the CT-F9191. Don't know if it has the same style of clutch. It has been working in a side system since I got it in August of 2023. I had the tech do a complete service on my CT-F9191 less than six months ago and the clutch hadn't failed in it...

Greetings from a classic audio guy

Welcome Bob. A few of us old timers have grandkids to spend our time and money on - a much better return on investment than reparing old audio gear. Nando.
