    phase linear 400

The Pinout of the 2N3403 is different than the currently used 2N5088. This has caused much wringing of hands and loss of hair.

    PL2000 preamp square wave ringing.

Which OPAMPs are you referring to? The OPAMPs we use are the Texas Instruments, Burr-Brown Division, OPA134 or the dual channel OPA2134. These are 8MHz Gain Bandwidth, 20V/us Slew Rate, 0.00008% @ 1kHz THD+Noise, 100db Common Mode Rejection Ratio, 120db Open Loop Voltage Gain, FET Input...

Bergquist Sil-Pads or Mica for the MJ15024 TO-3 transistor?

The correct Sil-Pads can also be found here (look under the Output Transistor Line Items IN RED): https://www.whiteoakaudio.com/estore.aspx

A Little Help From My Friends

Just to close out the original issue... I could not inject more than .2V to the Right channel of the amplifier before it started motorboating and the DBT got bright and the DCP opened the relay due to the DC voltage spiking. When I removed the Zobel Network, the Right Channel behaved normally.

    Dvd Laser

Many of the newer DVD players will "seek" to the initial track and align to that track and therefore all the tracks thereafter. The Focus is going to be the determining factor and this is measured in microns from the face of the Laser to the disc surface - good luck with that.

    WOPL a Carver C-500 Amp.

I think the average age on this Forum is 65 1/2. Good thing that we are all going to live to be 125 years old. We will need that long to upgrade all the Phase Linear amplifiers out there.

A Little Help From My Friends

First, I must say that the DC Protection Boards were assembled by me and not Don Imlay. The only test equipment connected to the PL700B was a handheld Fluke 77. The strangest thing to me was that Left Channel was perfect the whole time.

    phase linear 400

Replace the RCA B05 transistors with RCA 410 or RCA 66546 (they are the same device, just a newer number). I have them if you need them. PM me.

    Is a PL700b and PL2000 for $750 good price

Figure $1500.00-$2000.00 for the works on the amplifier. The PL2000 can be upgraded with new OPAMPs for pennies. But to take it to the extreme of what it is capable of could run $500.00 or more, mostly labor. For around $3000.00 (including your initial purchase) you will have a system that few...

A Little Help From My Friends

I found the cause of the issue by "Easter Egging" or changing random things until something makes the symptoms change. I replaced the DC Protection Board with another PL700B one and the problem was gone - GONE! So I figured out that was the cause of the problem, but not so fast. The new DC...

A Little Help From My Friends

The oscillations would be at 2 or 3 Hz, too slow to see. It is more like a power rail fluctuation caused by a short that then opens up and the cycle starts again. Not enough to blow any fuses, but enough to dim the Meter LEDs. Putting the rails on a meter shows the +85VDC and -85VDC (with a...

A Little Help From My Friends

I figured out how to upload the MP4 video, it was a timeout problem... Here is what I am looking at with a typical CD Player input at minimal volume. Right channel only, Left channel works perfectly.

The symptoms are more visible in a video. I took a 15 second video and it is 20MB. I don't know how to post a file that large. I cannot even get it off my Android phone. Help!

PL 400 series 2 in progress before WOPL

Where did you get the Soft Start circuit board? Most of us think the PL700B/PL700 II needs a soft start more than a PL400, others say no soft start is necessary at all. They point to thousands of Phase Linear amplifiers that have never had a bad start up.

A Little Help From My Friends

I have a customer's PL700B with a real head scratcher. I am looking to the group to help me figure this one out. I thought I had seen everything. I don't know if the amplifier ever worked previously. It already had WOA Capacitors and a WOA Blue Meter Illumination LED Board installed. I replaced...

    AC Thermal Switch Modifications ?

The order process is is currently in process. The first one required 67 revisions (mostly small, typos and such) to the Wiring Chart, about a dozen Mouser orders for parts substitutions (mostly my fault) and several steep learning curves related to the new circuit board assemblies and mechanical...

    PL 700 version

The real question is What control board do you have? Because your amplifier is the venerable PL700, you have the fully adjustable PL0171 board. Looking at the picture of your control board, the bottom potentiometer is R7, the potentiometer next to it is R17. These are on the Left Channel. Here...
