Original PL14A or PL20 Drive Boards Wanted

Does anyone have original PL14A or PL20 drive boards in decent shape? Working or not working is OK. Thanks, Nick

    PL-700 OTW

Hey Ed, What is the story behind the 700HF for Bell Labs? What makes the 700HF different / better / unique? Nick

All 4 Rail Fuses go Nucular

Those don't look like AGX type fuses, they are too long. AGX fuse dimensions are 1/4" (W) x 1" (L).

Fully Discrete 400 / 700 Driver Circuit (Full Comp Only)

Perhaps we all need to also buy a copy of J. Gordon Holt's (former publisher of Stereophile) book "The Audio Glossary" which has terms and definitions. (It will cost you around $75+ for a used copy) I also have an extra copy of the Audio Encyclopedia by Tremaine, if anyone is interested. It...

Fully Discrete 400 / 700 Driver Circuit (Full Comp Only)

I concur (with Northwinds), for the most part. I believe the logic behind using headphones for amp design/evaluation is to: Isolate your ears from the listening environment, so you can only hear the amp. Evaluate the noise floor of the circuitry. Listen for any type of audible distortion at...

Dynaco C-100 Energy Storage System (Capacitor Bank)

Glen, I have a pair of Krell KSA50 clones that I built. The power supply per mono amp consists of 4 20kuF caps (2 20kuF per rail, paralleled). For current in-rush, I am using a CL-60 NTC limiter (per amp). Because of the Krell design (dual diff front-end), there is no turn on thump or noise...

Fully Discrete 400 / 700 Driver Circuit (Full Comp Only)

Ed, I'll have some time this weekend to swap out those caps and perform more tests.

    PL-700 OTW

Nice stuffed board Ed. I normally swap out ceramics for silver mica, especially in the input filter and any feedback compensation areas. If I restore an amp, I too like to keep things original, but the ceramic caps (most of them) and carbon comp resistors have to go.

Fully Discrete 400 / 700 Driver Circuit (Full Comp Only)

Ed, My 700 already has upgraded supply caps.... Mallory 20000uF/100VDC (125VDC surge). Also, I am using 15024's and 15025's for drivers and outputs. Attached is the current working circuit that I tested in the graphs posted.

700 DCP, no delay at power up,

R3, R8 and C2 are the timing components for the relay delay. Except for the final relay circuit, this is the DCP schematic.

Fully Discrete 400 / 700 Driver Circuit (Full Comp Only)

It is a System One with dual domain option. I have a PCMCIA interface connected to my old laptop for the AP interface. Paid about 5k for it back in 2004.

Only 3 questions can be answered yes or no.

Fully Discrete 400 / 700 Driver Circuit (Full Comp Only)

BTW, all noise measurements were unweighted. I have an A weighted filter in the AP, but for some reason, it is not being switched into the signal path. I'll have to find out what is going on there. I have some old HP's and 2 ST 1700B's. I need to let some of that stuff go. If anybody needs one...
