    Transformer question?

I remember reading a thread on here about someone ( forgive me if I screw up the wording) re varnishing a transformer? Are any of you guys that are building these WOPL'S doing anything with the transformers other than cleaning and repainting the covers? Just curious? I searched for the thread...

Perry, everything I read about the Cornscalas are impressive! Really wanting to give them a try. Also looking into another Klipsch speaker that has very similar specs but not the Khorns as my corners will not work. We will see what pans out.

Lee is this all single wire or dial wire application? I found a 500 ft roll of 10 guage copper CL2 for $250 and I can take back what I don't use from a local stereo shop. However I have not seen this wire in person so I need to check and see if it is multi strand copper and not some cheap...

    Speaker wire

Lee, I had planned on running them in parallel. What I am planning on doing is either building or buying a set of Cornscalas with 16 ohm drivers so it is easier on the amplifier, although thinking about it if they were wired in series with 8 ohm drivers the amplifier would see the same load...

    Speaker wire

Lee, Correct, 4 80 foot runs of 2 conductor wire. The wire will not be cheap but I think it will be cheaper than running RCA's from one end of the shop to the other and then running a remote turn on switch from one end of the shop to the other. Damn hobby is expensive, better then crack and...

    Speaker wire

It would be possible, however if I did this I would have to run RCA's from the pre the 80 feet. The other thing that would be a bit of a pain is walking to the back of the shop to turn on the amp every time I fired up the tunes (which is all the time) I was told that the amp needs to be turned...

Fish and Laz thank you for the information. Laz I remember your thread about that speaker wire, I would have been a mad mofo as well. The people who sell that wire should be beaten with their own wire :violent1:

Lee, the WOPL will be controlling 2 of the rear speakers, could you send me a picture of this wire you have when you get time

    Speaker wire

Ron, no choice as I want speakers in the rear of the shop, the shop is 60x50. I really don't want wires hanging outside the walls, all of my speaker wires are run inside the walls so it is a clean install.

    Speaker wire

I have to make some really long runs of speaker wire from the front of the shop to the rear. By the time I go from the source, up the wall, across the upstairs and back down the other wall each run will be approximately 80 feet. I am going to run 10 gauge and I am running a total of 4 speakers...

    TheWOPLwhiffer A+++

Just recently purchased a WOPL from Perry and it was a great experience. Perry email'd great pictures and stayed in constant contact (keep in mind this keeping in contact was great considering he was moving at the time). The amp was packed very well and arrived unscathed and looking perfect...

    A WOPL "Frankenstein"

Jer, when you test the wattage could you show how that procedure is done? I would like to see how it is configured with the scope and dummy loads etc. I hope it's not a pain to document this procedure, if it is don't worry about it. Just curious is all

    Navo's Switch

That arc suppression device looks like it would lengthen the life of switches and relays. The video Nav posted was pretty amazing. I know in the pioneer gear most of them run a soft start and protection relays that the arc suppressor would really help. Of course this is the great thing about...

    Navo's Switch

Does not sound like this would be a good application for a thyristor but I will go ahead and post the link just in case someone was interested in the reading or came across an unobtanium power switch where using a thyristor could be utilized. here is the link...
