    A-B comparison, stock 400s2 vs WOPL’d 400s2

I think your findings will be, pardon the pun, amplified proportionally once you get the PL into your main system which is much more revealing than what you are currently testing with. Component break-in is a real phenomenon. It is more apparent and quantifiable in loudspeakers when changes in...

    Shielded input cables, grounding scheme.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but I finally re-visited this issue and with Joe`s help I was able to resolved it. The amp was doing LFE duty all of this time so the hum wasnt really an issue until I decided one day to run it full range on some JBL L80T`s that I just restored. The JBLs...

Salut a tous pink floyd PL for rent

Thats short for Britannia Row. In between tours, Pink Floyd would rent out its audio and lighting systems and that production company became known as Britannia Row. They were very successful, eventually bought by Clair Brothers Audio.

    Krell KSA-250

You know that an amplifier has a serious torque specification when buss bars are used to mate the output terminals. Nice amp.

    D-500

I cant say I`ve ever heard of one but after seeing this ad, it seems like it`s the holy grail of amplifiers! Are these amps that sought after? Asking price of $4300, $2000 spent in parts alone, I think not. What parts could possibly cost that much...

What Do You Guys Think Of This?

Those look very nice. Manley is a very well regarded company, if it`s good enough for their amps, I would trust them on mine. Be sure to post your opinion once you get them.

    Amp heats up

That did it:) It was way off at 80mv. Channel 2, while running relatively cool was at 25mv so I brought it down too. How did you arrive at 15mv? Thank you kindly for your help.

    Amp heats up

Hi All, I came a across a QSC MX1500 that seems to be working ok but the left channel heats up. Would this be a biasing issue? Where would the testing points be? I could use the good channel as a reference. thx

question for those who build wopls

If you If you are going through the trouble of replacing the input connectors to something other that RCA or TRS, skip Ebay and get something decent from the likes of Neutrik, Switchcraft or Amphenol...

    WOPL Tri Amp ?

It only stands to reason that hiss is a non issue with the S8 speakers (Paradigm?) and the 2035, the S8`s are 89db efficient and the JBL woofer doesnt climb that high. You need to identify the source of the hiss. Is the hiss present with nothing plugged into the PL400s? If not, the source is...

    WOPL Tri Amp ?

I agree that a 500hz crossover point is pushing the 2445 a bit, does the horn its coupled to even support 500hz? You can safely bump up to 1khz where the 15" woofer will begin to beam. A Linkwitz Reilly fourth order filter (24db/8ve) would be a good starting point. Hiss is usually a product of...

    Too much capacitor?

Thanks for the replies Gents. And here I was worried about too much capacitance. Are the original caps not rated 100vdc or were those ratings more conservative than modern caps? I could have got those for $50 cdn a pair compared to $230 online:(

    Too much capacitor?

I have a chance at a couple of these caps for a really good price and was wondering if its too much cap fro my 700sII. Would that necessitate a bridge upgrade too? Dimensions are 4.75x2.5

    Shielded input cables, grounding scheme.

Hi Mark, I just dug up a photo of my 700B and the signal is indeed shielded from input connector to the control board. I think that is where I`ll begin, even if it doesn't solve my issue, its good practice and certainly cant hurt. While in there, I`m thinking of running individual wires from the...
