    Odd PL 400

I am going to look at a Phase Linear 400 that is a bit odd. It has no aluminum face plate, has 700 style meters and volume controls and is supposedly a Series Two and is rack mountable. The guy that has it says he has had it for 30 years, bought it in Brooklyn and that it was PA model. Was...

Reel-to-Reel Decks You Have, or Had Owned, or Would Love to Own

Everclear also works great at cleaning heads also. Organic, non toxic and if you get frustrated working on your tape decks can be used to help sooth stress. Works for me.:happy7:

    New PL 400

I notice you have a 2000 preamp. I have a 2000 and a 3300 series 2. I always liked them better than the 4000. Your wood cases look nice but I prefer to rack mount mine. Just got through buying 8 rack mount shelves for my gear that is not rack mountable.

    Phase Linear 2000 PreAmp

First of all I want to thank you for your very generous offer. But I guess I did not make my question very clear and I don't take things under false pretenses. My on\off volume switch still works fine but in order to save wear and tear on it from my reading on the subject around 15 years ago I...

    Phase Linear 2000 PreAmp

I have a Phase Linear 2000 PreAmp. When I bought it years ago I read that even then the combo volume control-on\off switch was unobtanium even then. I ran it off a switchable power strip for that reason. If I had it gone through and rebuilt is there anyway mount a separate on\off switch in the...

    Welcome eminence1963 !!

eminence1963, I have an Otari 5050 that has been modded at one time so it does 15, 7 1\2 & 3 3\4. It works but has one reel spindle that is set deeper than the other so the tape winds off center on the reel. Do you know anything on how to adjust them? The balanced in\outputs are fun to wire a...

    Onkyo TA-R33 Cassette Deck

In rearranging my living entertainment center to fit in a HTPC I was forced to find a different cassette deck as there wasn't enough room to fit my old Teac top load A-170S that I been using for over 10 years. Down to the bowels of the pit to find another cassette deck with a better fit. The...

    Welcome OldHiFi Guy

Again I want to thank all of you for the warm welcome! Is there a particular sub forum where Phase Liner is discussed? I have a PL 4 400 amp(First model) and the matching 4000 preamp that I would like to get rebuilt. The amp still works and I presently use a newer Nikko Beta II preamp with...

    Welcome OldHiFi Guy

Are you referring to where I worked or where the repair person was? I worked at Mac's HiFi during the 70's They had stores in downtown Portland, Progress Square in Tigard, Albany and Eugene Oregon. The place where the repair person worked was Showcase down the street from Fred's.

    Welcome OldHiFi Guy

Thank you for the welcome. I will tell you a little about me. I have been nuts about stereo equipment since almost the time it came out. My first one was a cheapie Sylvania that I bought in 1964 with my paper route money. I still have the speakers after 50 years, they still work not that...
