If I had known that the GD fuses would be so damn hard to find here I would have either ordered them with the other components or I would have just changed the holders... But what I really need to know is when do I remove that 10K resistor from the output...

I'll bet you do recognize that picture...lots of good reference material in your old threads. I tried but couldn't make the loops as sexy as yours...

You know...I have been thinking about that but you know what happens in most projects...great idea but shitty timing. Besides, I have a shitload of fuses on the way (along with two new thermal cut-outs) so might as well use them.

It's alive... Now I really need to wait for the fuses to get here as I found out what happens when you use a 125V fuse in a 230V application (I stole one of the DC fuses and used it for the incoming line). When I first fired it up I used the DBT and it worked like a champ. Then I started...

Making preparations for powering up and have been reading all of the bringing up instructions that Joe provided and it seems that this is the recommended order (or at least what I am planning): With B+ and B- fuses pulled (both main fuses and small fuses on backplanes), power up the...

Did a little more wiring today, getting so damn close but now I need to wait another friggin' week for fuses...how I love living in the middle of nowhere... Got everything ready for commissioning of power supply and backplane but can't find 1A fuses and I'm missing a 5A line fuse. That 1/4" x...

    700B Customer Build

Eric, question for you regarding the input line. Typically you see a 220K resistor between input and ground and a .47 or so cap in series with the input signal. I notice that you are running "direct coupled" mode and doesn't look like you have the shunt...thoughts/reasoning? I am at that...

Works for me...I'm bypassing the input level pots also so the cleaner the signal the better.

    And the journey begins...

Hey guys, ran into a little problem (well, actually two of them but solved one) on the build. The input selector switch has got a crappy connection on one channel and I need to replace it. Does anybody have a part number for this little guy? I am already ordering a thermal cut-out switch (I...

not only unplug it but also wait till those bad-boy filter caps discharge... But I have switched the wires around so it is a moot point.

Perfect...I was reading where the Zobel was the R/C network but didn't have a schematic for the board. Was thinking that this resistor must be the one because of the size but wasn't sure, also not positive which cap to take. Thanks and those guys will be "gone in 60 seconds".

And what praytell are these "Zobel RC components"? I saw the note in the "Assembly notes for PL700 Backplane..." but didn't know what in the hell Joe was talking about. Do you have specific instructions as to what I need to remove?

Well, it's finally starting to look like an amplifier again...got the backplanes installed and have started on the wiring. Next will be finishing up the fuses, get the drivers installed, check for shorts and then put some juice to it and see what she does...oh shit, I guess I need to build...

Finally got the isopropyl alcohol and cleaned the boards. Also did a little front panel assembly while I was waiting... Any clue as to what that light film on the backplanes is and how to remove it? I'm using 99.9% alcohol so I don't think it is that. Residue from the flux?

I know that I should open the hot lead but my main question is will the triac even work if it is plugged in backwards. I am toying with putting in a "reverse polarity" indicator (transformer noise issue) but if the triac won't work on reverse polarity then the indicator is just that much more...

    And the journey begins...

Have been doing a little AC wiring getting ready for the backplane installation and am still thinking about this "reverse polarity" light as these European plugs can go in either way. I was looking at old posts using the triac switch for hints about wiring and it hit me...you are connecting the...
