The gain of 400s, 700s (with pots maxed), Model ONEs (also with pots maxed or bypassed) is IDENTICAL. The only difference is the max power each can produce before clipping
Isn’t the input to achieve full power the same on both the 400 and 700?

No it is not, 1V in on a 400 may hit the power supply clipping limit while the 700 still has room to move and needs 1.25V to hit clipping due to a higher voltage power supply in the 700. What is true is that up to the onset of clipping, the same input level into the 400 and 700 will produce the same power output from each amp

Thanks for straightening me out Joe. This is quite convenient for the passive bi amper

Crossover Frequency
400 & 2,200 Hz
So the cross will be at 400 for biamping. The crossover in front of the mids and tweets will help consume some power but still the bass amp will be doing most of work. Be interesting to see if this improves the sound for you.

That's how I have it, 400 on the tweeters, 700 on the woofers. Since I scrapped the passive crossovers and went active I've found the compression driver tweeters are more sensitive than the woofers so I tweaked the gain with the MiniDSP.

But since your biamping with passive crossovers this should not be an issue.

Yup, same here too.....

I'm preparing to wire up my Martin Logan 60XTi's for passive Horizontal Bi-amping using a 400 II WOPL for the Low freq's and a 700 II WOPL for the high end or versa veesa. Martin Logan "Recommends" using 2 identical amps for passive bi-amping (They say DO NOT USE ACTIVE X-OVERS which I am NOT doing), and they say if you "Must use 2 different amps, they say you should use 2 amps with the same gain (or adjustable gain.... Volume knob's???) or gain characteristics. Being that my amps share the WOPL moniker, I figure that the designer utilized the same techniques when he designed them so I think they should be "More than close enough". ML was talking about a Sonic Imbalance could occur if using a Kraco amp and an amp that works would cause something like that. Impedances, damping ground schemes, volume pots, outputs etc.. are about the same after WOPLing so Damn the Torpedoes, full speed ahead............. Active Bi-amping is not in the cards so keep that in mind when commenting. Now that the weather is changing for the better, I can turn all these heaters and shit off so I got power to spare and I just had a dedicated circuit installed so I don't have any surprises when jamming and then somebody turns on the air compressor or the electric fireplace. I hate it when you lose power while listening to Bob Denver or John Denver as far as that goes........... SKIPPERRRR, I'm rocky Mountain High............

Why did I wait so long to run the highs off the 400 II WOPL, and the 700 II has thumper duty. This sounds great (well, it did, shipped my Tuner off for alignment). I like being able to turn up the 700 if I need more bass. It's a lot more work using 2 amps but for the moment, it's cool. With the storms we have been getting every other day, I've had my system power off.

Using a poor man's system like this myself in my office. A powered old school Klipsch sub connected to one set of the outs on my pre amp and two other amplifiers connected to the other output. I can adjust volume as I like for the sub that way and switch between several sets of speakers without any trouble. I like it too. Some music seems to have too much bass, some not nearly enough. Not an issue this way. I just keep the sub turned down real low x over wise to avoid boomy bass. Works pretty fantastic. Glad you are liking it Perry! R.I.P. Ozzy.
