All have issues. Consider them as parts or repair. All have been opened up to look inside. No repairs have been attempted by me.

I'm not looking to make a bunch on these, and would be willing to trade with or without cash for the right item(s). Make me a reasonable offer. (Don't you hate when people say that? :tongue1:) I'm cleaning House.

I'll do my best to describe them accurately. If anyone wants more info or pics, let me know.

Pioneer CT-F2121: This deck needs belts, but I think that's it. It plays pretty much on pitch (didn't check exactly, but sounds right.), but does not FF or RW- motors run, but little to no movement.

Pioneer CT-F850: Does not run. Everything lights up. Assume needs belts. What else? No clue.

Akai GXC-38D: Not fully tested, but functions seem to work. Oddly, this thing runs fast- very fast. Everything sounds like the Bangles. :)

Yamaha K960: Does not power on, "advanced controls" door hinge broken. Last time I remember having this out, I thought it powered up. That was years ago. Who knows what i may have done in there? Pretty sure this one is parts only, but I can open it up and get more info if desired.

What are you valuing the Pioneer 850 at? I have not heard back about the 1250 so I assume it's gone. Would really prefer a trade of some sort... records, cd's etc... LMK

I could do a trade.

Honestly, it's not in the best shape. Though the face is in pretty good shape, there's some corrosion on the bottom and light rust in the paint on the sides. I can get you some better pics inside and out. Really, it ain't worth much and I'm not trying to get much, but it may have potential??? Might be a pig in a poke...IDK, so let's keep it cheap.

I'll pay the freight for both and we can call it even if you've got a Tascam US144 (or US122) you don't need. I could throw in some boot here if need be.

If we could find a record you'd like to part with, that I would like, that would work, too I have pretty broad taste in music...if you've got a duplicate of something that's in good shape, that would be ideal. I could even settle for a CD. :sad4:

If we can't come up with something...good will towards men would be fine, too. This stuff has gotta go. Taking up space where my pinball machine is going to go. :blob:

Broken beyond repair but highly affable

With at least the CT-F2121 you have to consider the TIRE. Trying to repair the first one I had with no manual (or clue) showed my exactly WHY so many are rather skittish about messing with the innards of a 1970s Pioneer cassette deck, They can be a bit beastly to the inexperienced (I've got a CT-F500 sitting half apart that I repaired a door well on but I haven't gotten close to changing the belts yet).

PS Get back to me about the 2121 anyway, no way I ever expected the 850 to last long on the block.

RE-The Akai: check the lifting of the roller and clean. It sounds similar to having to clear and relube a 60s Sony reel to reel I had. The arm that lifted the pinch roller was all gummed up and would not come up all the way. If not that specifically check the linkage.

Not a question of faith Lee, he said he was going to call me last weekend and 8 days have passed. I am not one to chase anything, especially calling out of the blue. There's many times I wanted to call Jer but when I put hand to phone, I think how would I feel gettting a phone call out of the blue when I am doing something already and then go through the motions of polite conversation while watching the clock tic while thinking man I need to get back to this project LOL. I am not one to yap on a phone. I do with Jason because he and I have so much in common so it's easier

Weather has not been bad all week. If it's sold it's sold, again no issue since it would have seen very limited use anyway not to mention I would have to try to take it all apart to get new belts on it ... I am sure I would have destroyed something in the process LOL. It would have been more of a wallflower to display with the WOPL's and my other silverfaced stuff when everything eventually gets together

There is a local craigslist ad for a Pioneer CT-F850. I was going to perhaps purchase it while I am in town tomorrow for my son's follow-up medical appointment.

Well, that was weird...I just clicked on "my posts" to get back to this thread, and the board thought I was mlucitt (sp?) for a second there. Clicked it again, and I'm back to my old self. That happen often?

Anyway orange, I appreciate the tips, but at this point, I just really need to let these go. The 2121 is in pretty nice shape, so I'd like to get a little something for it, but not looking for "ebay money" by any means.

If this didn't stand out in the other message...

I would really like to find a tascam us144 to trade for. (or other 24/96 usb soundcard/ interface)

I would be more interested in fixing these if I didn't have some other nice decks I am keeping, and/ or listened to cassettes more often. I know they can sound great...but as a rule, that takes nice tape, and I don't have any. At the risk of being driven from this board, all of my tape listening is "nostalgic" They are almost entirely needle drops of old punk rock albums , that were recorded over other stuff on bad tapes to start out with. It's not good. :)

What I'm keeping:
CT-F1250 with wood case- near mint. Needs belts. (It's mine and I'll hoard it if I want to. :tongue1:)
Working NAD 6340 Not the best, but it's fine for my tapes. :) It's the one I use now.
Technics RS-M85 Locked up at the moment, but I just got it...with a whole rack of Technics pro series stuff. :evil4:

Anyway, I'll shoot you a pm.

Why would you be driven from this board for stating exactly what you do with your tapes? Do we really seem that uptight?

Not at all.

Bagging on tapes on a tape oriented board is risky though, you have to admit. :)

Me and "HiFi" were worlds apart back then. I was dead broke, and worse was better in a weird way. If you had dragged your radio behind your truck after you blew the speakers, and were still using it that would have been totally cool. Anarchy and whatnot. :happy7:

just having some fun.
