Yes I do !!!! Zach... Sutton and I built the two pair we have but I'm pretty sure the ones you have are the ones he had Down in Atlanta when Sutton and I took mine down there to that speaker building competition.... That's been a long time ago ! And I still say you aint heard your speakers till you get that 700b driving them !!! I know I hadn't !!!! So you think that K-horns on the front... Array's on the rear with 700 per pair and Paradigm studio 11's for the center channel with a 400 on them WOULDN'T WORK ?????? LOL !!!!! MAN... I had my heart set on that ....
Yeah, sorry. You'll just need to send me your linus for MY surrounds.

That makes more sense, right?

I've been reading

I have been reading (way over my head) about the CBT and all the theory and practical stuff behind a line array done CORRECTLY, and I realize I'd be much better off just buying the Parts Express CBT36 and being done with it.

IO got the 2 X 4 unbalanced mini-dsp by the way, just to get my feet wet. I also got te mic, and have downloaded REW..but I don't know what to do now, after the research I've don thus far. Would you pursue this project, or just stay with the Linus? I'm thinking I could stack smaller enclosures together and achieve the arc needed...and sill have a straight baffle to mount drivers to...Maybe with some help I could pull this off...

Reading thCDT36 Manual ( available at PE ) is a big help. I wonder how closely I could follow their resistor values and placement using different drivers?

Anyway, how proficient re you with this theory, and can you help me with this project?

The CBT is quite impressive. I've heard them in person, and they really do sound pretty much the same at any reasonable listening distance.

Whether to lay down another card or hold, I can't answer for you.

Speakers in general- I am very familiar with.

Line arrays- never built, but have read quite a bit- would need to brush up, but I understand the concepts well.

CBT- read the paper, but it's not fresh in my mind at all, since I was sure I would never build them. They're awesome, but cost, build complexity and physical space prevent me.

I've been hanging around the PE board for I think 15 years or so, and used to lurk at the old Madisound board. There was some heavy shit on there back then. I don't post much at PE due to the lax moderation. There are a few prominent posters who can be overbearing, and enough others with more knowledge than myself that if bad advice is given, they don't need me to pile on.

I would be able to give some guidance. Like I mentioned before, read Dr. Griffins white paper repeatedly and it will sink in. It's a lot of info in a small package. Maybe the best thing to do would be for me to help you understand the concepts that are fuzzy, and if I can't, we can hit the PE board for more help.

... lax moderation.
Zach
Let me clarify this.

This is a hobby for me, and as such these boards are part of my happy place as it were.

I don't need some prick telling me I'm wrong in a snide manner just to get some small satisfaction he doesn't get elsewhere in life, especially when he is wrong.

Who wants that argument? Whoever it is, they can have it, but I'm out.

Kinda funny to talk of lax moderation on this board, huh? The difference is that here nobody sweats the small stuff, and there's a generally jovial feel to the whole place. Intolerance is not tolerated, and that's how it should be.

Back to the fun stuff...

Helping to clarify that. The prick you speak of is on the PE board? At least thats my take on what you said. It certainly doesnt seem like that came from here anyways.

No particular prick. Just that some personalities are allowed to run unchecked, and are often confrontational.

It's fine to say that someone is wrong, if you think so, but it's quite another to be a jerk about it.

And, yes, on the PE board.

To be clear, it's a good place, and I visit daily, but I just don't post there because I don't need the hassle.

I don't want to overstate this. It's cool.

Respect, that's all.

So what is the PE forum? I just Googled "PE Forum" and guess what - most of the hits were about Penis Enlargement. :-o

Fitting for my comments, but not the board at large.

It's the Teck Talk discussion board at Parts Express, which a great place to learn about/ discuss speakers, particularly DIY. Visited by complete novices and experts.

On the whole, most folks are very helpful and tolerant of "newbie" questions.

There a lot of great guys over there, my previous comments notwithstanding.

There's just a few that feel a need to challenge everything at times. Easy to be a jerk on the internet, I suppose.

At this point, I don't think there is any off topic we've strayed so far, but it's sure not related to what I was talking about.

My mind wanders.

Once again that's the beauty of this place, get it out before we forget it, if it's not appropriate we'll move it or make it disappear without attitude or judgement. And some off topic is F^%$#$@ hilarious, and the need for levity in this world over rules a lot IN MY BOOK. And I speak for mine alone. Like I've said before if this forum desires to be overmoderated and so politically correct that there is no fun to be had, I'm outta here. Ya'll can have it and I'll start another one. :-o:-o:-o:-o:-o:-o

With the growing number of members joining up simply for WOPL related info and other such goodness, it only seems right to me. Then there would be no searching required unless looking for specific thread. Plus I already think Phoenix is the spot for PL related info.

It's the WOPL's that suck em in but our snarky, smarmy charm keeps em!!!
