Time To Cull

A PL 1000?

Yep, basically what my CD player has (DAIR) and it kicks friggin' ass on helping less then dynamic recordings. Bet it would do wonders with a few crappy mastered lps I have and some old demo tapes

I need to make some space so I must to part with some NOS tape. No reasonable offer refused.

If I could get ahold of at least one of those cases, I'd be interested in buying the attached AT LEAST, although I'd likely have to wait until next month. The money order fiasco has 71 dollars chewed and 59 help hostage and the stop order will eat 15 of that so that's at least 130 dollars I would have had GONE for a while, only to lightly recover in about two weeks or so unless the money order is recovered from my friend's stupid car. Everybody else except the guy who repaired and converted my CED player to stereo and I'll get him when I get my money back...

Any Shure V15's (as in very affordable) type III or IV w/ good stylus???

Both black Preamp is a Beta 20. The tuner is matching. Both with boxes. I think manuals. I'll have to look if you want. The phono part is just really good on the preamp.

Rats. I was really hoping for silver. But, as it turns out, I picked up a PL400 last night from a gentleman locally. And, since I just picked up the Nikko set before right Christmas, I might get in trouble with the Mrs. if I bought much else right now, especially since the 400 needs work, and I'm not sure what exactly- yet. For cheap enough, I'd have to- even now, but I know you're not looking for "cheap enough" so no insulting offers.

I do have a Mitsubishi DA-A10DC who is looking for some friends, and these would compliment that amp nicely.

I'll try to remember to contact you when the dust settles to see if you still have them.

As an aside, what you said about the phono stage is what really stands out to me about the Beta II. I didn't realize how nice Nikko was in general before getting these. Very well build, and great features, but not to excess.

All around it is a good pre. The phono just makes it hard to sell. Ya know. I feel I got the better end of the deal when I got them. LOL

I have a Nikko cassette deck. While not the top of the line model, it was a nice 2 head. Really heavy unit, with lots of features. Was my main cassette deck for some time before I got my Yamaha KX800.

I don't see me selling mine any time soon!

It appears yours and mine are differently nice featurewise, but I'm guessing real similar soundwise. :-)

I love the front panel cart loading switch. Though I don't switch up carts much, it makes a nice additional tone control for the top end. Different albums like different loading.

That's what tripped my trigger about the HCA-8500 Hitachi Pre. The Music Hall TT Larrt rigged up for me is going upstairs in her system and the front panel cap and resistance loading feature guarantees hours of tweaking on that bugger..

Well, if I'm contemplating buying more cassettes and just filled most of my new shelving with to-dos and half a dozen cassette decks and four boomboxes are on those shelves I guess I've got some real work ahead.

At least the dresser in the bedroom no longer has a stack and the bathroom is gear free.
