Actually getting some heat out of this PL200 SE2 now. Fan cooled of course, playing an album written by a friend of mine that's heavy on the bass, sitting between 9 and 10 o'clock on the dial.
they're cheap.
empty sh*tty ones sell for as little as $30 pr. (a few battle scars from being on the road, but nothing structural.)
some good ones can fetch $100+
no one wants 'em 'cause they're really big, (about 4 foot tall by 2 foot square), but the sound is just great, especially at low level.
i know, 'cause i got four of 'em.....
Maybe further down the track, I really am happy with these 4311b's and the bass response really surprised me because of the fact they are sitting so high with mids and tweeters at ear level. So punchy and clean.
of all the things i can choose from here, my 'constant' stereo consists of my self powered JBL Creatures (which are about 3 watts each) run straight off my iMac through a Lexicon USB interface.
my 'main' stereo is powered by a 7 watt valve amp.
go figure.

All George had to do was wave a pair of JBL 4311b studio monitors under my nose and quick as a flash I was instantly 3 figures poorer, but very happy at the same time
