I've totally lost the plot....
Not much incentive working in a maximum security jail.
The money's twice as good on the outside, and you don't run the risk of getting your throat cut.
Scary place.....

Well I ended up having an op on my shoulder, and spent a couple of days in hospital for my troubles.
Glad to be home. :bounce:
Good to have you back George. Hope the recovery is not too painful. Thought you were hibernating enjoying your new TV :)

Welcome back home George! Glad to see all went well with your operation. Here's hoping that this will make things less painful. I hope they didn't remove it though.:confused2:

thanx D.
i'm still at a loss as to wot was actually done!
it was a spur of the moment thing. i'd just had enough, and walked into Emergency, and asked 'em to cut my arm off. it got quite a response, and i was hospitalised right there and then. most strange!
anyway, i have to do everything left handed for now and will be a bit awkward for a while.
see wot happens....

.... oh, and yes D2, the new tele, (52" Samsung) has got to be the best new toy I've got in a long time.
It just keeps on blowing me away, constantly. The quality is just outrageous. .... and for so freakin' cheap!
Paired up with my Maggies, it all makes for quite an impressive set up and almost takes up the full width of my lounge room. :confused2:

Anyway, it's been a long day. Off to bed....

Changed computers (again) today....
Spent the whole day just trying to restore all my apps., preferences and privileges etc....
I just can't come to grips with why I'm having such high failure rates with EVERYTHING of late.
Bloody 'puters, hard drives, modems, amplifiers, DBXes, speakers. The list is endless.
This last 6 months has been a total economic disaster for me.
This is truly depressing. (BIG SIGH)
:(

.... at least my 'new' tele's still working.

You can vent to me anytime you like George, either email or phone. What happened with the hard drive? There are so many things that can send them to an early death.

thanx D2, but it's way beyond anything as simple as a drive.
I've downgraded my OS, as I concluded that the latest upgrade was just too demanding on my CPU.
It meant I had to go to full 64 bit, and a lot of my s/w is 32 bit.....
anyway, way too much to talk about...
I've got my head stuck back inside my deceased DBX Boom Box now, and give that another look at.

64-bit should have increased performance unless you are short on system RAM. 32-bit emulation under 64-bit operating systems is quite good these days but was a problem in the early days.

unfortunately, with macs, there is no emulation capabilities with the latest OS, and my older Macbook Pro, won't work in full 64 bit due to some stupid reason that escapes me right now.
i've gone back to an earlier OS now which works mostly 64 bit, but it still can work in 32 bit natively, and unless i upgrade my actual mac, then that's how it will stay.
don't have the inclination or interest to bother with it any further. too much other stuff to do.

If it isn't broke, don't fix it. That would be like me upgrading to windows 8 which I know would be a major disaster to my apps. So many times I have upgraded software (including firmware in dvd writers) only to encounter trouble or catastrophic failure. Unless its a critical update that will stop "major" early revision bugs, I won't touch it.

.... well, my mac's been working for 48 hours straight now, and no ill events.
Let's see how long THIS lasts.
Good going George and good luck. Once they are stable they generally stay stable. Sometimes it has taken me up to 2 weeks to get everything back to the way it was after a re-load, I just can't remember all the apps that I use until they are needed.
