Going whole hog on this. A fairly decent Ser I. Faceplate sucks, Skratch is gonna help me out with a BLACK ANODIZED ALUMINUM, with cutouts for bottom swingin 400 meters, DCP, Lights, Rev D board, convert to fully comp, silk screen will read "Laatsch Linear" 1000 watts "Joseph King Signature Series Wopl"
This should be an interesting project....

This will be a build I look forward to following. Derek will be joining the PL Club.

Nando.

It will be unrecognizable in it's next incarnartion from its present.....

Joe ......at what point in heatsink fin density does increased convection due to cclose proximity give way to restriction of airflow????????????

From larvae to butterfly.

Nando.

Ahhh.....Nando....you DO get it....

This one had the "Crotch Rocket" outputs. Been mulling a little test over in the grey area, a set of complementary 2SD555/2SB600's on one channel and the MJ21195/21196 pairs in the other...then just drive them to destruction and see who sits atop the smoking, ruined pile!!!

Wow Lee, what a nice surprise! Just discovered this thread now. Have not been well the past few days, this sure has brightened up my day. Should be back to work next week hopefully. I will be watching with a keen eye :toothy10:

Haven't decided whether it's going to have two separate outboard power supplies, to take advantage of some beautiful toroids I have and be able to 120/240 the buggers in 2 minutes.....or something else......

Very cool watching an eagerly anticipated acquired amp go through a chrysilas post by post eh??

Very cool, it will be a while before I get the speakers for it. I can use the 8 ohm 12 inch audi tones but I have a feeling the high range wont be very good on them. Might have to find some better tweeters for them to get me by until the JBLs come along. Then again this thing sounds so good the speakers may sound better than I have ever heard them anyways. Unfamiliar territory for me.

Ya know guys, some day in the not to distant future some guy is going to casually ask if we know of anywhere he can pick up some good, used, Keystone TO-3 sockets fairly cheap...........boy will it ever be his lucky day!!

Joe,I'm thinkin "vertical series" backplane boards......

Na...goad BD into having a "speaker off" at your place....

You got hit by a bug? Hope you are playing something mellow to bide the time. Hope things turn around for you, health-wise.

Nando.

Strip them, sort them, and sell them. Right, Lee?

Hi Lee to answer properly, I would have to know more about what you are thinking of. Still air or forced convection? That makes a very big difference.

White Oak Audio TO-3Squared mobiles....

Kinda nice having an "in-situ" eletrical engineer here.

Still air Joe. If I doubled the fin density, would i get better cooling through increased convection, or would that density moment begin to restrict the cooling effect.

No Nando, kinda like Joe's idea of sending them out as Christmas time mobiles...
