First did it by ear when I started, as that was all I had.

Nowadays I use a 61 band RTA/mike to set crossover points, driver phase, balance output levels for the low, mids and highs, and adjust speaker position (within the tiny limits I have) and eq.

Still go back to ears for the final tweak. I am certain that the RTA for the first step is helping with a better sound in the end. I highly recommend a good one with enough bands to do the job properly.

Of course - shit maybe I'll be in your part of the world and will have to drop in!!
.... almost goes without saying, the door is always open to you, and that Lee bloke!
Just don't step on a cat when you come in! (Penny could be mistaken for a Bear Rug, so don't freak out if all of a sudden the floor gets up and walks away.)
I'm still recovering from taking her and Bob to the Vet's today. (just a tad under $500. I'll have to sell something now to make up my shortfalls for the rest of the week. Oh well....)
But all's good and that's the main thing.

I am a feline fan myself, but the landlord wont let me have one. I shall be breaking that rule eventually and getting a kitty. My last one passed away when she was 14, himalayan blue point, great kitty, great company. Purrrrr

I just don't understand that rule. wot do they think? the cat's gonna rip the wall's out or attack the neighbours or wot?
they have the same rule here, but i just told 'em straight up, they're moving in with me or we all go to the tribunal, and get a ruling as to why they can't.
I think wot helped heaps was that my GP intervened and stated they were very therapeutic for me during my last surgery recovery.
My Bobby is 15, and Penelope is almost 6 so there's no way the thought of abandoning them remotely entered my mind. They are my responsibility for life. They have their right to life, wotever it costs me.

They even told me I cant smoke cigs in here, I do anyway, that's really going too far with rules. What next?

Well cigarettes are bad for you....
.... and they stink the place out.
I gave 'em up for my cats' sake.
Just smoke a bong instead, for medicinal purposes only of course. 'nuff said. ;)

Yes I know cigs are bad for me, I don't give a damn. Gave bongs up long ago, best thing I ever did. Cigs will be given up soon as well. I guess I want my kitty to breathe clean air too when I get one. I have several air purifiers with multiple stage filters (no I don't use ionizer or ozone generators), makes me sick seeing what comes out when cleaning them.

I have an (almost) industrial ioniser/ozone generator thingie.
had to get one, as the smell of the dumpster bins here was overpowering during summer.
it was the only thing that would make the air breathable again.
ya just can't run 'em for too long otherwise they can make ya sick.
but used sparingly, can make all the difference. and this thing doesn't half move some air. i mean this is a serious bit of kit.

I used to use the ionizer 24/7 and ozone once a week for 4 hours while I was out of the house. The problem with ionizers is they do something to the dust particles which makes them fall to the ground (so they are out of the air), but this method can also make them stick inside of your lungs making me feel like I got a major furball (your lungs kind of act like a filter FOR the air filter), a friend of mine felt rather sick & short of breath when I used to run them. So now its just the standard carbon activated filters/pre filters/dust collection plates for me. Works well. I guess everyone is different.

yes, i totally understand what you're saying, but i never need to run mine for more than 5 minutes. it's really fierce. does the job in a flash, and no probs with dust. forgot to mention it's got a fan in it. it can recirculate a whole room in around 5 minutes. I'm only after the 'smell' molecules. ;)

Do you run the fan/filter feature 24/7 and just run the ion/ozone for 5 mins? I have two average quality units that are on 24/7 with the fan. They do ok I guess, plenty of dust buildup on the pre filters within 1 week. Do you have a big monster unit or something?
