what are you listening to?

Nando,
I will have to double- check but I think it may is the Harvest pressing, it sound ridiculously good on my modest system! I have the picture disc reissue also, but for the art. Sounds like a picture disc which is to say not so hot.
ND
Yes, it is a picture disc. So, I gather picture discs won't have the fidelity of a non-picture disc.

I personally feel that the sound quality is a bit lacking.

Not really a big fan of most, but not all, colored vinyl, but I have encountered some great sounding exceptions:

Beastie Boys~ Hot Sauce Committee Pt 2 on white vinyl

Thin Lizzy~ Jailbreak reissue on grey vinyl

Twilight Eclipse soundtrack on red vinyl

Three bits of colored vinyl I've been most impressed with are:

Black Sabbath - 'Paranoid' (EP) - clear vinyl
Alan Parsons - 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination' - clear yellow vinyl (it was a Canadian import that I let someone borrow and never got back)
Bob Marley - 'Legend, The Best of...' multicolored vinyl

The Marley disc plays like a MoFi !

Thanks for the tips, Tony. I don't have much for colored vinyl and I don't go out hunting for it. I just bought the Alabama Shakes debut album, yesterday. Normally, I would have bought the CD instead, but I had a hankering for a new record. I should be giving it a spin, tonight.

Nando.

I own both CD and LP- you made the right choice as the disc is a bit lacking in my system. What kind of tape are you going to be recording on tonight?

This one is for NavLinear

Ween ~ Chocolate and Cheese

I know it's not Devin, but......

Well, I won't be recording tonight, Nick, but I will be sure to note which songs I may include for a future mix tape. "Hold On" is catchy, isn't it? It's, probably, overplayed on the radio, so once I hear more of the album I will know which songs would make the cut.

As far as cassette recording, I have been having a hoot using entry-level Type I cassettes and eking out performance with Dolby C and HX-Pro. In a change of pace, I recently finished a jazz mix using a Maxell UR 90 (1988-1989) version.

YW Nando!
The Sabbath and AP discs date back pretty far for me. I hadn't bought colored vinyl for quite some time, like more than 20 years, but when that Marley came up - I had to buy it last year.
And I'm glad I did...great album! I've only owned one picture-disc, Sgt Peppers, and I purchase that one back around 1980. Purely for display purposes..

Tony: It seems to be the current rage in offering colored vinyl for re-releases. Is there already a thread dedicated to colored vinyl? If not, we could start one. I did play Alabama Shakes' album "Boys & Girls." I pick Side 2 for its mellowness. This album came with a 7" B-Sides and a code for a digital download.

Good idea Nando! I'd post up some pictures. Not aware of any such dedicated thread but if there isn't one already, let's do it!
