IF I get it back, it will be my Perreaux SA3 or a Carver CT-24 that sounds surprisingly good, I don't care about the tuner, I don't listen to radio except in the car
That'll be a good match for it, I think. Yeah wow... having to do the "guts" just added some more to the parts total as I've detailed to ya in PM o'er there. But you will still have first right when it's all done - which is going to be awhile, yep... I think the only thing that will be left "original" is the transformer, lol!

I hope there's some karma here. Using the Carver kinda makes it a family matter.

Jerry, did you try calling that phone number in red ink on the inside of the chassis yet?

I think that is Bob Carver's hotline LOL

Looks like I may have to sell some stuff to be able to swing this resto. This is probably going to end up the most expensive PL 400 in history

Started to populate the WO driver board (pics later).

Hey Joe - you know I just realized something.... this 400's caps are the ones that do not have the retainer plate that comes up from the transformer - they are the ones with the cap clamps on the back wall, with the BR. I'm assuming you guys ran into this, so what's the best course of action fitting the "double caps" on?

You need to order the correct kit for that application Jer. Send the other kit back unless you have other use for it. I have stock on the right caps for that application with the brackets.

Ok, der right caps now coming... :glasses8:

One step closer now.. The driver board's complete and knocked out... Next up will be the chassis work, for which there's a bit of that to be done!

Very neat work Jer. Joe, I finally ran out of the 120PF, 180PF silver mica caps. Ordered some more last night and the CDE versions are now 4.36, and 2.86 respectively.

Polarity check is good for your electrolytic caps Jer. And I like how you oriented the slit in each TO-5 HS to align with the emitter tab. My MO is always straight down, interesting to see what other folks do with these.

I guess we should go out and invest in Mica instead of gold. Yes these are getting seriously expensive.
