Etta James - The Second Time Around
(1961, Argo) MONO

the record is VG with lots of visible light scratches but actually plays ok without much surface noise on the inner tracks. It's too bad this is a thin sounding recording and would much rather hear real R&B backing than the cheezy string arrangements but the nice & gritty Etta vocals are here. a recent 50cent pickup.
Good thing she had such a great voice because she sure needs lessons on how to do her eyebrows. lol

Where did the Technics come from. Which is better it or the Rega. Never mind. LOL Your pic threw me. Those may be some great seeds you never know what may grow.

Never had a Rega. I do have a Technics 1200mkII which I like. I like my Marantz 6300 better though. Had to see what all the fuss was about. I do like the 1200 and I plan on doing upgrades so maybe it will end up better. I like the semi-automatic better though. Soundwise...my Marantz has a better stylus on it right now so not really being fair to the Technics. If I lived in Colorado I might find out about the seeds. lol

Like Okeys don't grow cash crops. My first A&P job was in OKC. Didn't last 90 days. LOL First my apartment complex was condemned due to gas leaks. Had to find another. Got a room mate to watch my things while I went on the road. Went to Bangor then to Orlando. Car was in OKC. So I called my room mate and told him I was coming home to get my car. Flew in Monday. My friend picked me up. Went to my apartment. Opened the door. It was empty. I mean nothing was there. So I go to the office to call the cops. They tell me to call from my house so they can get the address. I started laughing. Told her I can't they stole my phone. LOL While I'm on the phone I notice two of the office women talking heatedly and looking and pointing at me. I hang up. They got quiet and the one lady goes I'm so sorry. I go why are you sorry. She goes my husband and I helped them load the U haul. I just started laughing. What ya gonna do when you live in a shoe.

Do you like the Mustang or a Camaro? My reason will be explained.

Aww, Dammit! The Doobie Bros. tape just bit the dust! Haven't had a tape get munched in a long time. Good thing that one wasn't a hard to find one. I had it since the early 80's though.

Moby Grape - self titled
(1967, Columbia)

original issue with Don Stevenson giving the finger on the cover. One of the nicer records from all the incredible music released in 1967.

The Allman Bros. Band-"Win, Lose Or Draw" 1975 Capricorn Records 8-Track

...The weakest album the band did during their initial run. "High Falls" is a nice instrumental though. I just bid on a replacement for the now deceased Doobie Bros. tape. I wonder if I should throw it out the truck window for old times sake?

Sorry to hear that. I might actually have that 8-track, you're right probably more common than their early titles. Sorry but this reminded me of that scene in Romancing The Stone

Bonnie Raitt-"self-titled" 1971 Warner Bros. Records 8-track

....With out a doubt the worst sounding (non-bootleg) 8-track I've ever heard. The sound is distorted like it was mastered from an AM radio. Don't know if I got a bad copy or if the whole press run sounded this terrible.
