the 60hz hum is gone mostly on the right channel but still there in spades on the left..... and this was unloaded. gonna try these 3 tests again loaded and see just how bad it is. What worries me is how far the level drops as it goes down in freq. I have never seen it to that degree.

What did you find? It looked scary bad.

Listening to Sphongle Remixed - got it from Deutchland. Songs I'm now familiar with now take a different path from what I expect. Kinda cool though. It'll take a while to get used to but my first impression is two thumbs up.

haven't heard that one yet Dennis.

I had floated the ground on the RCA in's for a check of that configuration and then with work emergencies and stuff----uh----kinda forgot about it. Ran a ground from the RCA in ground plane to the Star ground and it's cool.

Doing some Whirly-Gig--Whirly One. This is not the same Whirly I sent you, I will hav to burn these two bootleg Whirtlies because they are totally different AND better.

Put some B+, B- feeds on my tester and it's golden now too!! .216THD at 100khz down to .011 at 20 hz. I'm really itchin to put the big power supply on the 700 and see just how quiet it can get.

Ok - grounds can be your friend. Wiring miscues can be so elusive - been there more than once. So what are you using as a power source? Transformer (not Lou Reed) and big ass caps? Just curious.

The numbers are looking way better - good job.

I'll send you a copy of the Remix. I may have another one you haven't heard - we'll see. Hoping to get out a care package later this week.

Remix of "My Head Feels Like a Frisbee". Different but good!

I just slapped together a small power supply for the tester. Was contemplating the bad ass power supply hooked up in place of the stock 700's to see how much quieter it would be.

The DC/Normal coupling switch is junk. You can slide it one way and lose everytrhing, slide the other way and get it back. OR the opposite will happen, OR it will be a screen full of fuzz, or......We shall replace that. Could have been causing a lot of problems. Doug, is this going in a rack?? the reason I ask is if I move the AC in to the transformer the cord will be coming out the left side of the chassis near the front, can be a bitch to change fuses.

So the cord coming out of the left side as your looking at it would not bother your access to it?

Ineffible Mysteries From Shpongleland ( or is the remix a different name)?
The non remix cd is "Ineffible Mysteries From Shpongleland". One of the songs is named "Ineffible Mysteries" but the play list shows it as "Ineffible Mysteries From Shpongle". Go figure. I would assume that you have this cd of theirs?

Put the remix back on and I'm now listening to "And the Day Turned to Fright" (Eat Static Remix). Next up is "Star Shpongled Banner" (Brothomstates Remix). Good stuff.

Star Shpongled Banner is the 1st one that goes on during the after work amp test. The bass passages are low and extended, and some bells and chimes in with it. Kinda like an audible IMD measurement.
