Broken beyond repair but highly affable
If your ears don't bleed, how will you ever know you were successful?

Gotta climb on them to trim throttles or wipe the indication T5 amp. This isn't test cell. We are trimming to the aircraft now. Everything has to match.

Describing the sound is difficult because I don't have anything to compare it with. Never listened to tube equipment. The upper freqs are attenuated with sliders on the preamp. Is the brightness from being SS or the speakers themselves? Types of music = runs the gamutalmost anything. The last CD I put it in the player was by Yello - Flag. My pl400 (less the faceplate) can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NUVrGWKE_M

To me it is the sum of all parts when you hear it. Tubes can be very accurate. There is just a warmer sound. I guess is what I think of SS is a more analytical precise sound. Tubes can be as defined just not as in your face. The Missions weren't your 1st set of speakers? What do they sound like to you. You have heard tubes I'll bet if you have listened to a Marshall amp a band was playing through. They both have pluses and minuses. What I was getting at was why you chose the Missions.

Never even heard of Mission. Perhaps that other 700B needs refreshed??
I will have a look at the 700b this evening. I've never looked in side it, so don't know if it is all stock or....
It is fully functioning at the moment. I wouldn't need another monster built, but might be time to upgrade some aged components.
I'll decide soon and the cabbage case might have the 700b in it for the return journey to Wyo.

I used to run some ported "homebuilts" prior to the Missions. They were large cabinets which housed 2 12" Utahs and 8 CTS 2T8s per box. They didn't really appeal to the wife and after the pl400 stopped functioning on one channel, I replaced the speakers and bought a Rotel amp. The Missions were purchased on a friend's recommendation and after listening to them. They don't have the bottom end that the old speakers had, but had wife approval.

Every day I see how lucky I am to have a wife that loves her music like I do. If I like it she does, if she likes it i do.
