Would anyone be interested in doing a plan a year in advance. So people can save their money up and figure out a central location. A year would be enough time to plan. The one Carver group meets in the smokey myns.. They rent cabins. Some bring their gear. It looks kinda cool.
I could see it in the future.. hmmm... let's crash da AK bash, lol! just kiddin...
Maybe we could do it down on the Outer Banks... pitch tents, bring genny's (bet Lee would be good to put in charge of that), bring some wopl's n big speaks... and PARTY wooooo (damn.. am I allowed to still say that past 40 years old??)
WOOT? Even if it is just 4 or 5. I'm sure we would have a blast. A week of a good festival. Austin does a very good festival. I know how to get breaks on hotel prices. Trust me. Several rooms and bring your business card. Will also get a business discount. Some are like 40%. Got any airline miles that can help. Rent a house for a week.
The Smokey Mountains are not too far from Kevin and me. Probably about a 2 1/2 - 3 hour drive. There are some awesome "cabins" in the mountains surrounding Gatlinburg...Some with 6 or 8 bedrooms and maybe more. Also near Beech Mountain NC, there is a hotel that we probably could rent out for the group and use the entire place...big bar and restaurant, and the rooms are all super nice, and not terribly expensive...but I'd say Gatlinberg would be the ticket...We could probably rent several cabins near each other, so some could go all night, and others turn in early....I know ther would be many options, and that would not be expensive at all....We could rent the places and divide the costs...and cook out on grills or in the kitchens, and save even more...
I don't know where. How about in the middle of the country. Lee is there places to rent in WY and Montana? Away from society but close enough to go out on the town? We need a place that we can play our systems that are brought.I can contact Mark about Denver if you want. Go to Red Rocks. I won't say I won't go to Vegas but I am allergic to it. Free booze that costs me in the end is a no no. If that is where you want to go. Maybe I could do it. As uncouth as we are we may get kicked out of a regular hotel. LOL Austin is nice. Could probably get some reasonable rates in the summer around Denver. If you like blues Memphis is pretty cool. The casinos are in MS. St Louis isn't far. New Orleans Has it all. Find a Manor home to rent for a week.Just suggestions. Does someone want to start a list as to where you would like it to be.
Lawrence, Kansas! College town, lots of young women, a vibrant downtown with lots of cool shops and eaterys, bike shops, bookshops, KIEF'S, etc, etc. It's also within easy reach of Topeka and Kansas City.
We could actually rent a big hall at the cam-plex for a little of nothing and get as loud as we want. Gillette's an oilfield town that has been through a couple booms, we can handle a few audio nuts.
