Plenty of them out there Gene. Most are priced reasonable.
I like having two tuners in the system. A old school air gap tuning capacitor tuner and a PPL unit.
Both sound excellent, but slightly different.
I like choices.
I've started listening to my SDR again on the upstairs system. Australia was booming in this morning as usual as in years past.
Going out to do some yard work now and get the branches off the long wire.

Yup, but they play a lot of Chicago on the FM stations around here. Listening to FM right now. Well, time to get back to work. I have a huge pile of hardwood bark mulch in the driveway to pitch fork and wheel barrow to the landscaping beds. I'd be using pine straw if I was I was down south. Later.

Never seen any this far north, not saying they aren't around here. I do know I needed a termite inspection on the the house I bought in Arkansas. Don't remember needing one for this house in NE Ohio.
Biggest issue up here are Carpenter Ants and Carpenter Bee's. Especially the ants. They'll hollow out the studs in a wall. The Bee's eat holes in wood decks and such.
Only insect I have problems with here are the yellow jackets after the crab apples fall and ferment. The damn things get vicious after feeding on fermented fruit.

I know about leaf cutters. I've sat in the jungle in Panama for hours watching them.

one day when i finished my home...2008 i believe ....i was leaving...until i saw a black patch across my yard as far as i could see in both directions...maybe 15 or 20 ft wide...cutting my access to the road....upon closer inspection it was alive...
black army/soldier ants...nasty critters...
about 3 hours later the last of them passed by...it did worry me a bit...sometimes they take over your home...eating every morsel in the vicinity...nothing you can do until they are done...
luckily they have not returned....

Never saw anything like that thank God. I get the willies just thinking about army ants. Probably one one the worst ways to die.
