Meet "Val" PL 400 series 1, SN 171xx

Backplane test fitted. DCP modified and installed. Rectifier/snubber assembly installed. I'll start populating the control board next. Leaving the wire hookup and routing till last. Ordering some sticky bases to secure the harness.

lookin great!!!

Got more done this week. Getting ready to build the wire harness. I think some of the wires are going to come up short due to repositioning the fuse holders. May have to perform some splicing if not replacement. No other hiccups noted thus far.20230529_181157.jpg20230603_113057.jpg

Taking a break from board building. It's hard on the eyes after staring at a computer all day. Worked on the wire harness. Some wires came up short due to some rearrangement of fuse holders. Realized I missed routing output grounds. Haven't come up with the best way to route input coaxes yet. Waiting on ziptie bases anyway. Started reworking the faceplate...opinions?20230606_060630.jpg20230606_055844.jpg20230606_055742.jpg

Zip tie bases can be had in the electrical section of Lowes or Home Depot. I get my zip ties and heat shrink there also.

Nice. I’ve had to start wearing reading glasses in the last few years and I bought a stronger set for solder work only. Hope the old eyes don’t go for too much more of a shit as I really enjoy assembling and soldering these boards. Relaxing asf on winter evenings which is when seem to spend the most time at my gear.

Just ordered 100 from crapazon for $6. The adhesive back had bad reviews from all suppliers I looked at but I think I’ll remove the foam adhesive and replace it with 3M auto body trim adhesive. I bought a roll for the chrome trim between the left and right tanks on my bike and holy crap does the stuff stick...

That meter was pretty rough and turned out excellent. Yours are probably better and no 000 steel wool is needed. A little toothpaste slurry with water would probably work OK. Mint is best!

Thanks George. I don't think I need the steel wool, but that tooth paste thing is worth trying.

Finished modding the faceplate and test fit the gain pots to check clearance. I really like the way this looks. Thinking of adding a power switch. Hoping Don's triac mod becomes available.20230606_155404.jpg20230606_155432.jpg20230606_155502.jpg20230606_155515.jpg
