In your experiment, The Sx is more of a intergraded amp so it can have more bass at Flat . (Sx is Very Good) you can also use it as a pre amp to the PL have you tied that yet? another fun thing to do.

Folks like Gene and I can't hear bass below 100Hz (normal folks can hear down to 20Hz). So we need to FEEL it!
