Phase Linear 4000 Series two.

Going to pick up a PL 400 series II and a 4000 series II. What is the deal with the 4000 II, is that one of the better preamps Phase made or is that kinda shitty one with the bad boards?

The original 4000 with the Star Trek Joystick is the POS....... The Series II is easier to work on.

That's funny, I almost spelled it that way. Down here it would be a tU ner or just a radio.

Here is the amplifier. Have not taken all of it out of the Transformer yet. Had to bag it all for transport before disinfection then into the shop.

With the obligatory white spots in the aluminum finish. I had to shovel the dust off and wipe it down once before I could take a picture. Oh and both rail fuses are shot. Main fuse is good though.

I got lucky but not that lucky. I will bet I know what side died. It is something though. Someone put Sil-Pads under all of the outputs or was that common on series II amplifiers ?

My 700 Pro had silpads and not a spec of compound. Has "Jensen USA" in small print on the big heat sink sticker

Can you post a digital copy of the rest of that service manual. My PL400 Series II service manual has the sections listed in Arabic numbers, not Roman numerals. I wonder why the change?
