OOOPS

That's how tuff these meters are........... when he shorted the speaker wires, it bounced the needle up and on top of the needle-stop. I suppose I could have Drop-Checked the amp and it MIGHT have come loose but it took longer to disassemble the face plate than it did to repair the meter. I adjusted the needle stop also so it won't make the jump again. I'll reassemble tonight or tomorrow. Brent got lucky (providing it passes an Op's check with no issues), all I'll charge him is shipping. I could have pasted him good to teach him a lesson but I dogged him quite a bit over the last month or so.

This is what happens to an amp when you are playing with speaker wires n shit while the unit is powered up, and rocking. Notice that there is NO POWER APPLIED at this moment. With meters being near impossible to get, this will be an expensive mistake by the current owner. AND, even though I warranty my amps for life, blowing them up because of procedural errors is NOT COVERED. Never mess with a powered up amp. Power it down and mess with connections.

Lee is inside that amp, driving the left channel…..

Since I started fiddling with the surround amp, the WOPL has been sitting there laughing its arse off. Thou shall need no sub :evil4:

I learnt my lesson too, was pushing the pc back towards the wall when a loud buzz emitted from the speaks and blew the rev d board. It also took out a channel on the pc sound card. Still to this day dont know if it was a coincidence or due to the move whilst powered up. Power down!

Just ordered new opamps for my blown Asus Essence ST sound card. Can't figure out a way to test it in the PC. Pulling everything out of the case and then reconnecting it all up on the bench just isn't going to happen.

I got the parts, I'm thinking another red or green 700B. Can't go to far overboard just in case I put it up for sale.

Perry, you have photos in the archives of the red chassis builds. Those are sharp. At one time there was a photo of two red chassis Clair Bros, can no longer find it. To me those are the best looking, unique and beautiful.

I have the same card, PCI model not PCI express, hence it wont run in my new pc. So the old Pc is used for recording. If you need any measurements taken I can help.

Thanks, I'm just going to swap them out as they're in sockets and see if it works. Would like to probe with the meter and scope, but no room. If it's fried, I'll get another same model.
