"Been Waitin for the mail all day" (sing to the ZZ Top tune Been waiting for the bus all day) and received a GREAT SURPRISE!!!!!
Joe Delivers the goods once again.
The White Oak Audio Control Board arrived (x2) and boy am I stoked. It's the New version which is the G1 Rev and it's got some nice new features. I have only had a quick glance and wanted to get a pic out of it real quick so I can go finish the soldering I started. At first glance, I see the big printing "DUAL MONO" and a big beautiful American Flag on it. YUP DUAL MONO.... Hold it up to the light and SHORE NUFF, the left and right channels are now separated (not sharing + and - 15 volt regulators) or any other connections. It has also been laid out nicely freeing up a bit of real estate. Another nice feature is that the test points are all now easy to get at as you see on the pre G1 versions, the plus and minus test points were a little bit of a stretch when troubleshooting from the top of the amp. Very easy to get at now IF you need to check them after assembly of the amp. The small signal 1N4148's have been replaced with more robust 1N4149's...... More later.... I can't contain myself. Brad will receive the first amp (That I build) with the new G1 Board along with a G1 board for my "Fat Girl" which I will insert a G1 into her shortly. More shortly. (I also have visions of placing these in my "IN WORK" Monster Mono's too). Maybe it's me, but it seems like there is a reduction in the parts count making this build go faster but I also usually build 2 boards at a time so IDK..... Thank God I used the Phoenix connectors on my Fat Girl to make changing out boards FAST.
Oh, I didn't even know Joe was reworking the Control Board that sneaky lil debil..... It cost a couple more dollars than the Rev E board (which will remain available I hear) but with this quality, it's still a bargain.
