Screw it
Lee, Jer, Don, Joe (or anybody with a suggestion)

I was thinking of upgrading some of my Test Equipment, any thoughts on AGILENT 8903A AUDIO ANALYZER either the A or B model???? Right now I have a Load bank a scope and a WaveTek 134 Function Generator. I'd like to have the ability to print out results for test accomplished on an amp etc.... What would one of these analyzers replace? Can I sell some of what I have or will I need it in conjunction with the analyzer??? Or?????

The 8903 is what I have. It's not bad, but dunno if I can get the thing to print anything, really. I have a PC to IEE-488 adapter I have been playing with, so maybe with it I can do my own plotting on the 'puter. Haven't messed with it in awhile tho. Lee's got something fancier hehe.. :hello1:

The Audio Precision ATS-1DD is pretty nice. They come up on e-bay once in awhile. Glen bought one a couple weeks ago for 1400.00.....

I have an (Agilent) HP8903B, solid machine. If you are good at writing C++ or C# code then you can make it plot the results from your PC.

The Audio Precision is great. Way more information is available from it than I can use. I saw an other sell for $710 just after I got mine so just wating game.

Here lemme help you with that, Joe... Yep, that's why I have the IEE-488 to USB adapter. "One of these days..."tm

I have an HP 8903A and it has a lot of useful test functions. At the moment I use a mechanical pencil for plots. The 8903B model is an improvement over the A so I'd take that into consideration. The AP is the bomb tho...

I need to get that adapter - HPIB aka GPIB and the necessary computer interface boards are dinosaurs.

Get the Agilent adapter. They are readily available and actually work.

Joe - what's the part number for the adapter? The 8903's are really nice pieces of test hardware for those that don't know. I brought mine back into work last week to test some low frequency anti-aliasing filters and it did a better job than the test equipment we had available at the time.

Its "hard" to concentrate when looking at your avatar Nav.

When looking for a GPIB card check what drivers you can get for it. I got one that can only run on win XP 32 bit. I had an extra unit to set up for this as XP system along with an older version of
The test hardware to run it.

Just a a point to look out for as all this stuff is getting a bit dated.

Hi Navo
Agilent 82357B. Yes the 8903 is a great piece of test equipment.

I had an old analog HP scope and it was ok for old tube analog repairs but then later when I got into digital repairs it was not fast enough to capture so I ended up with one of these... I love it a friend of mine wrote an app to run on my laptop for a signal generator it can put out any frequency and wave I took a headphone set with mini male plug, cut the headphones off and soldered a couple test lead clips onto the leads to plug into my headphone out jack on my laptop the set up works very well and best of all did not have to take out a mortgage on my house for the set up

This was more of a question as to whether the AGILENT 8903A AUDIO ANALYZER either the A or B model would do what is needed for testing the PL amps, or a suitable replacement so I could gather results for printing. I have a scope, load bank and SigGen.

Transistor/Cap tester

OK, I want to get a transistor tester and Cap tester..... I don't want no Chineez JUNK.... so a $16 tester is NOT an option. But, I also am on a retiree budget so cost IS a concern. I SEE SOME REAL SHIT OUT THERE, and was wondering what you guys are using. I don't want ones that are made out of a cigar box and some zip ties and a 9 volt battery so what do you guys recommend???

Transistor curve tracers are quite expensive Perry. What are you interested in measuring on the transistors>

Agilent LCR meter up on the bay Perry. Quite a few LCR meter options.
