Most likely later today I connected the C-1 to it and an old pair of 301's I have had kicking around for awhile..... I have an old TX-9100 I am going to connect to it for now for some input to test.. so far so good no humms or anything

As you can see in pic there is a nasty shadow across the center area of the meters thinking I will have to remove spacers to let the lights go further into the meter housing to get rid of the shadow I gotta drop the face plate again when I put Don's board in so I'll do that then

Sure will look sweet with those 700B rack handles on it!

So when are you going to try the amp out Ray?

The best dispersion is achieved when the LEDs are just kissing the clear front bezel on the meters. You get total internal reflection off the inside front clear plastic surface as well as the best wall wash on the meter indicator face.

How does your phono cart sound on the C1 now Ray? Remember, there is a 3 position loading switch on the back. When you switch between them to find the best sound, remember to keep the volume low

When you have the LED's positioned correctly, there is no shadows, just glorious beautiful blue. I opted for the white blue lighter color which is outstanding on the WOPL's vs the darker Marantz type blue

I havent connect the TT to it yet in fact this is the first time I have powered it up just have the tuner connected to it now when I get the last piece for the amp I will move the amp and preamp over to my rack and connect everything up to the C-1 can't wait to run this thing through my big speakers... "keep the volume low" ??? yea ok Mr. Red Line lol

I like the dark blue mine is even darker cause it has smoked lens cover on the meters... it's an easy fix I will just remove the spacers from the light board

I have a bunch of other stuff stacked in the garage that needs to find new homes as well of several sets of large speakers LOL. I have a pair of 301's also, they are great bookshelf speakers. I have two larger sets, 601 series II and 501 series IV upgraded. Lastly is a set of Optimus Mach 3's. A nod goes to the kickass Infinity RS-1 bookshelfs that took the Clair's punishment prior to her ultimate upgrade

I'm really surprised my old pioneer tx is still working so well it has been stuffed in a box and forgo ten for near 15 years now Gerie is still humming away and the C-1 is very nice glad I grabbed it now

If you center it a little more the stereo light should come on though, or is it burned out?

I have a 9100 in here and I will go to my grave with it. It will pick up the false 'sidebands' or BUZZING caused by 'HD' signals (hybrid digital, IBOC-in-band on-channel, except having a buzz two channels over on your analog tuner makes that a lie).

Try the 'pulse noise' filter if you have that problem and also switch in the first muting position and it will go away.

Digital tuning tends to eliminate that, but who the hell wants it if you have a TX-9100 or SX-939?

It has a couple issues I think the bulb is burnt out for the stereo light and the tuning meter does not seem to work any longer it just stays centered also the AM antenna pivot mount on the back is broken my grandson got a hold of it when he was 3 or so... was just looking on ebay I see one for $60 I don't want to repair that that much I live in a valley surrounded by mountains and reception here is very bad I have a huge tv/fm antenna up in the rafters on the second floor connected to my stereo system it does on the TX right now is just connected to a T antenna and it is picking up a station in Bangor not strong but clear... I have always thought Pioneer was one of the better tuners out their for picking up stations

The ceiling isn't the choicest spot for an antenna, realize it's probably there because of the weather but you would do much better outside on a tall mast.

With a TV/FM amp, like me. We have a butte (Clay Peak, Payette) and hills on the Idaho side of the river (which is just on the other side of the interstate that is down the block) and that can make for some crappy reception without some elevation. I'm at ~21' above ground and I have a 4-element UHF reflector chained to the main weathervane below and I could use a stronger amp and 10-15 more feet to get most of the signals available in the valley...some of them are off the air momentarily (nobody has leased) or the patterns were changed and then there is the coming 700 MHz range clearance for emergency services. 70-83 were removed from the band years ago and 51 or 52 to 69 are gone as well.

This means Weird Al's station in UHF isn't there.

Not gonna get me upon on this roof! lol What I fear most is if the go to digital broadcast like they did with TV when the tv signal was analog we could get a few Bangor channels not great but good enough with an antenna on roof of house with a 15' mast then when they went to digital we could no longer get any tv channels at all same with neighbors as well I guess the digital signal is weaker it don't get over the mountains we were forced to get a dish but I wonder if they make radio digital if the same thing will happen the signal will be weaker and all I will be able to get is maybe a couple country western stations... they always come in strong everywhere in the country... good if your into country not so good for a rocker

Radio has no digital switchover mandate, it's an add-on to the analog signal, like the store music that used to be common (Muzak and others).

In Great Britain and some other places they want to eliminate analog FM and go to all digital DAB but then again British sets are LICENSED and the fees fund the national broadcasting service, the BBC.

Full power TV was mandated to switch to digital in 2009. While translators and low power stations didn't have a set cutoff date until recently, all of them should be digital very soon.

If you don't have an HDTV set or a converter box you need to hurry...the converters aren't made anymore and they come up on Craigslist or in thrift stores often, however they are getting old and some aren't very good while many create a lot of heat in that small case and that kills them prematurely.

To me the best ones were the Digital Stream DTX-9900 and 9950 (the latter has a cable setting, the former only broadcast). My old Zenith box started shifting the chroma and then puked and the DISH made model I had had no support, and somebody just wanted to sell me satellite TV...it didn't even support alternate audio/SAP and the PBS network here has a college jazz station and eclectic mix music service as well as the main radio network on their .3 channel.

Keep the converter in open space to dissipate heat!
