So, your road trip for work took you to Grand Forks, Gary? I could cull through about 100 records, but not thousands. But, it seems you've picked up some rarities on vinyl. I will keep an eye out for Elephant Memory. Any other titles, that are out of the ordinary, from the 30 you found?

My trip wasn't work related, There's a a wide spot on the highway between Castlegar & Nelson with a Shell station called Taghum. My mother and grandparents lived there after moving to BC from Saskatchewan in the 1930's. I was only there once when I was 4 and it was to visit someone with my parents and grandmother. I learned of a road there named after them and had to see it for myself.

I've listened to a few other LP''s this morning. One is by Geronimo Black - 1972. Had to read about them but there's an association with Frank Zappa. I think the story was that Frank was incapacitated for quite a while and a few of the Mothers of Invention collaberated on this record. I was never a Zappa fan but this is quite tasty. Maybe I should give Frank another chance. I have to admit it reminds me of the Mothers but is more listenable.

Another I found was by Emmit Rhodes and the name rang a bell Seems he was in Fairport Convention then went on his own. Apparently he played all the instruments on this album and wrote the songs but it's not my cup of tea.

Two that I did like was an album by Mason Prophet and the second or third album by Sir Douglas Quintet.

I listened to side 1 of a Mathew's Southern Comfort album but the jury's still out.

A big disappointment was Crosstown Bus. I remember them playing in Vancouver a lot and thought they were local. Turns out they were originally from Nelson then relocated to Penticton. The album is produced by Bruce Allen (probably an early effort) and David Foster has credits, Too bad it sucks.

Can't post pics 'cause I'm in a truck cab using my phone. Maybe later when I'm home and since you're interested, I'll post some opinions of others I found.

Ben, I just clicked the wrong link LOL. I have had 2 photobucket accounts for over a decade. I just hate using them because shit takes so long to load and vids time out on me
 
Interesting links to your past, Gary. It's not often, when I'm going through used LPs, that I would pick something from a band I didn't know. But now I depend on a few cues from the album cover art and read more of the production details to make my decision to buy or not. Of course, many of the members here have good taste and I follow up on their favourites. That's why this thread has not only becoming entertaining, but very informative.

One of the infamous "Supergroup" mystery albums. First track sounds like Mick Jaggar singing. This comes with the spoof Rolling Stone article insert. Using the Benz Micro Glider now, I am spoiled by the Carmen and need to give these other carts some playtime

Great album! I have it also and the white cover one also. I think I have this one on 8 track also???
 
I'm going to have to go through a number of the pages of this thread to jot down some notable titles for future reference when I'm out shopping for old music.

I had this album tucked away and hadn't played it until tonight. It was one of a number of records in a friend's collection gifted to me. Canadians should recognize the band Chilliwack. This is their second self-titled album which was released in 1971.



Geri and I went to see Bill Henderson, lead man from the band, three years ago when he came to our town. I had Bill autograph my CD case of the band's last compilation CD set.

Very cool story, thanks for the pictures. I have at least a couple of the bands LPs and see them often in the bins here, probably because BC is just up the road.

Listening to record 1. even a scattered mess like this record is interesting, as you expect from Ray Davies and the Kinks
 
Other than Elephant's Memory, these are the three others I've listened to that I consider good finds. Even thought the jackets have considerable wear, the vinyl is near perfect.

If there's anything else I think is superlative, I'll put up some pics of those. I won't have any listening time until Saturday now as my between shift time (9AM to 3PM) has been filled in with more work. Not going to be home until 8:30 at night and I've got to get up at 4 in the mornings.

They were all pretty incredible- the first actually reminded me a bit of Klaus Nomi...
But I didn't like the chick who covered Zeppelin's "Black Dog." Robert Plant can't be covered- it's an automatic fail...
