Another case of too many bands, not enough time (or money to buy their records).
Always willing to explore, will look for Tony Carey during the next record splurge.

Wow, WOW, and WOW! That record is a gem! I just bought a used "Wheels of Fire" last week- Cream was one of the truly GREAT bands!

I picked up a bunch of 8 tracks, yesterday, 35, I think. Some really great titles I didn't have in any other format. I also found a Sanyo PAT-M5 Cassette recorder/ 8 track player/ Karaoke portable a few weeks ago. What a kick!

Nanado, have you collected enough 8 tracks to have duplicate titles? I've got about 600, all reconditioned and there are duplicates plus several dozen others that I have no particular interest in. If you feel like doing a trade, PM a list and I'll do likewise.

EDIT: Any fallout in Squamish from the Pemberton Music Fest?
 
That's a great idea, Gary. I might have about 80-100 8 tracks, but none are duplicates. I have never reconditioned the ones I have. You will have to school me on how to restore these collectibles. I hate to crack open a cartridge if I don't need to.

Gary, please remember that I have the 8-track bug as well...I own a Realistic recorder and Pioneer H-R100 as well as a 4-channel combo Wards Airline (the eight track works fine, the power switch needs repair or replacement as it won't stay on) which is an SQ set with a joystick balance control.

Your efforts toward commerce and barter are also appreciated herein.

I picked up a few crates from storage Nando, got guite a few gems sitting here. I have two of the Cream's and sold the pictured one yesterday for $125. The even nicer one resides in my collection still

Going to spin the UK Cream - Goodbye today. When I get it out, I will post and image
 
Sure, post that picture, Ron. Not many Cream albums to collect. It sounds like you have them all. I underestimated the value of old LPs that are collectible.

Sad to say but if there's only one thing I've learned how to do in life it's reconditioning 8 track tapes. I've encountered about 20 different cartridge styles and and most are fairly easy or were easy to figure out but some were real posers.

From experience, I will not insert a newly acquired tape before I've had it apart and manually spooled the tape all the way through or at least until I hit the splice. There are lots of funky things that can be going on with the tape pack.

Through trial and error, I came up with a method to make new foam pressure pads from polystyrene strips, open cell foam rubber, packing tape and a particular type of contact cement. I keep a bunch of these handy for any new tapes I get.

Those riveted cartridges (mostly RCA) are not hard to open, they're easy. Some others are much harder. Most riveted ones have copper springs with felt pads instead of foam and half the time those felts have fallen off or soon will. Home Depot et al sell adhesive felt sheets
to cut new ones from.

I'd be happy to guide you with this or even do some for you if you can get them to me.

Seeing as how you and Orange speak 8 track, I may start a thread in the Classified Forum with tape titles for swap or trade.

Yep, I used to take them apart and do stuff with them also. Now mine just sit in cases or boxes. I have maybe 200 still kicking around though and a old player in the garage that I hook up occasionally to listen to some personal favorites

A thread for reconditioning 8 tracks would be an excellent idea as many people still enjoy the format!!! If this is something you'd consider doing, I know many people would welcome the info

Stereo versions are not worth a lot of this lp Nando unless they are minty w/ the original ATCO label like mine. The mono issue is extremely rare and even rarer to find in -NM condition
