Most of the way thru the first album, listening to the disc right now. Think when I finally decide to session the LP's I might lay a track or two down on a reel. Get that first run - right on to tape.
Its later in the evening so I don't want to disturb the neighbors but for low volume listening. It is a crisp and full of sound.
This will punch out the walls with some wattage behind it thats for sure. Can't wait to give it a real listen next week when I get back from the ice fishing trip. lol.
Quality remastering though. I have bought each remastered LP (got the IV set and this one - eventually I will pick up all the sets) and so far each one is phenomenal.

Finally getting around to some serious tape listening with the SoundMagic HP-150's.
Listening to an Al Di Meola compilation recorded on Metal Master, Dolby C, with contained peaks averaging around +3 dB max.
It's a mix from the two first World Sinfonia albums. Sourced from CD. Recorded this master about 12, 13 years ago.
These are great albums with excellent engineering and I wish Di Meola would re-release them on 180g vinyl. I'd jump on that!
The high freq components are spot on, bass is punchy and the overall spectrum is smooth & present.
I'm able to dial down the dampening factor below center detent on the Teac hp-amp without any loss in clarity.
Sound-stage is better than my Ultrasones, not being tin-eee around the edges.
No fatigue at medium volume. I'm pleased ...

That does indeed seem to be the case. I believe Frahm is German. I'm not always in the mood for something so... well, moody. But this sort of thing really hits the spot at certain times. Also good for hangovers.
A similar mood with different instrumentation that I enjoy is Valgeir Sigurðsson's Architecture of Loss.

You nailed it. Being in the right mood is essential to really appreciate some of this music.
I also think it is quite easy/rude to dismiss acts away from the usual UK/USA axis. There is so much good stuff from all corners of the globe if you are prepared to seek it out.
I am not familiar with Valgeir Sigurðsson, so I'll have to look into that.
