Naming conventions are a funny thing in the music world. Some artists self-title on their debut, others wait until their last original line-up release, whilst others slip one in - somewhere in the middle of their catalog. Boredom? Laziness? Lack of inspiration? Who knows ... More interesting though is the way the fan base, the public, make a statement by adopting a better and more easily recognizable, more reference-able and more suitable name.
For instance:
In the beginning - category:
'Weezer'
"The Blue Album" as it is commonly referred to.
In the middle - category:
'The Beatles'
"The White Album"
In the end - category:
"Stone Temple Pilots"
Simply garbage as most everyone I know thinks of it.
LMAO! (no endearing, assigned name other than "sh!t" for this one ... but hopefully you get the point)
Anyway,
This puzzle album falls somewhere in the middle but admittedly, not nearly as iconic as "The White Album".
Billy Idol would probably disagree.
Still a great album though ...
