Back at it. Photo of the wiring for the DC protect board. Note the tie mount that the boards AC runs through to avoid having it drop down into the rca input area.

Fred, with the low amperage requirements of the DC protect, a shielded, twisted #20 pair works real nice for that application....

It does help the residual noise level. Where you have to run the AC to the DCP there is no way to avoid some imtimacy of the opposing currents. It has for an added feature of neatening of the wiring. Joe doesn't run DCP's in his builds so one has to be pretty damn tricky to get noise levels to his, but it's possible...

Dim bulb test passed with all outputs in. Bias steady at 380 mV after warmup. Time for the front panel and DC protect. Anybody know which components need to be removed from the DC protect to disable zoble network? Thinking R10, R11, C4, C5 but don't have schematic.

Out of curiosity what type of wire did you use? I noticed a bit of melting towards the solder joints. No matter though as all looks fantastic. Good job!

I still have to chuckle a bit when I see Tyco on electronics. I remember when they made cheesy toys. I had some as a kid. Now they make electronics, and actually are into alarm systems and telecom stuff as well.

I use Military Specification wire such as MIL-W-22759/xx-x that is made from a Teflon composition. I like the silver coated 150 or 200 degree C wire the best as it is flexible and can handle the heat. I've used higher temperature wire but the insulation is not as bullet proof and in my experience it is more prone to chafing and nicks compared to the lower temperature wire.

I've been kicking around the idea of selling 10 foot lengths of the ten solid colors ranging from 16 AWG to 26 AWG if there is any interest here. The pricing will be very reasonable as I will cost it out at the 1,000 foot spool length. My goal is to get all new wire for some projects I'm working on so I'm willing to sell what I now have to anyone wanting good quality wire at a reasonable cost.

Doug, it's really just a nasty rumor he uses wire for anything......I remember once.....in a galaxy far, far away.....something about a 400 that had some new wire in it.....
