Me too. Looking at the Wikipedia list helped me remember ... David Bromberg is the version I remember, a great cover.

That's not the one I remember SLF but I like that one, very good cover with a background story, thanks for the link....I'll keep searching..

I know, I think it was covered by a folk rock group, not The Byrds but I want to say it was something along those lines. ah... Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. that's the one I heard a lot.
