So far today, Jane Getz's first two albums off a CD-R which must be twenty years old now - still plays perfectly. Jane Getz's vocals are an acquired taste, but her song writing and piano playing are brilliant.

lost in my own world
I've been listening to lyle lovett all morn. His lyric writing is wild. Anytime I bring up his name in conversation ppl snicker. I don't think ppl have gave him his dues . He is a amazing singer/songwriter and always has a tremendous band behind him.. And his recordings rival the best I've heard....

I used to laugh about Lyle Lovett, too.Goofy lookin dude lmao.....Thought the only reason he was around was bc he married Julia Roberts.Until I actually started listening to him....and it opened my eyes to the fact that he really is talented, and does always surround himself with excellent musicians. Have a new respect for him and what he does....

Listening to Boiled in Lead's "Old Lead" CD. I call it "punk Celtic." It's two albums on one CD: BOiLeD in LEAD and BOiLD iN LEaD. Clever titles, yes?

Just try to imagine a punk + Celtic version of "Over, Under, Sideways, Down."

Makes me think of The Dropkick Murphys or somethin like that. Dudes who did that song from "The Departed" .....
I think Boiled in Lead came first, but yeah, I like the Dropkick Murphys. Don't leave out Flogging Molly, either.

Then there was that band from Ireland (don't remember the name) who made a one-time appearance at a local Irish Fest, doing high kicks (speaking of kicks) in kilts and the traditional lack of underwear. They were told never to return...

I'm sure that you're probably right on the time frame.....punk and celtic punk are a cpl of genres that I have never really delved into....I figured that Skynyrd would at least know of Dropkick Murphys....just to kind of give him a frame of reference on that style of music...
