what are you listening to?

LMFAO Nav, of course that is to be expected :evil4:

Michael Stanley Band - Cabin fever - First listen, as soon as I heard the opening track I knew I'd like the rest of it. Thanks Lee!

Max Richter: Vivaldi Recomposed

Deluxe 2014 edition on vinyl. Originally released in 2012 on CD, and now on both CD and vinyl as a deluxe version with the original Vivaldi recomposed material along with Shadows pt. 1-5, a sort of droney electronic thing and 4 remixed versions of the Vivaldi material on a second LP. Great packaging and the pressing sounds fantastic. The CD version comes with some video as well I believe.

The Yetties - Up in Arms - UK Pressing - Thorens TD 160 Super

No idea what to expect from this one =).

David Bowie - Low - UK Pressing - Thorens TD 160 Super

A recent surprising $1 garage sale find. A nice playing VG after a VPI clean with tergitol. The droning electronic experimental music is working tonight. includes a 2 page fold-out insert with cool pictures.

I'm missing the sonics of Rega P9/Benz Micro MC - I'll probably be able to pickup a loaner RP8 on Friday.

What relation is this to the Morton Subotnick work on Nonesuch?

Just never liked the Subotnick record, preferred bamboo shoots under the nails or to be blasted by a Dalek. Worst public library checkout ever.

I think everyone should be able to audition a pair.....

with low frequency that will blow out a candle. My first listening session with K's was in a Speakerlab listening room at the Roosevelt store, it was a moving experience. Phase Linear amps in the listening room. Lots of brand name speakers to A/B. I recall listening to Led Zeppelin and Thick As A Brick LPs.

One of my K's - I sent it down the road a few years ago.

This is quite a bit more rock/psychedelic from what I recall of the Subotnick electronic music, but still definitely an acquired taste, the right mood thing, like a lot of the stuff from the era... These guys kind of remind me of an electronic Incredible String Band. I have their '69 record - Contact - which is more of the same.

What happened to your old Rega?

The P9's external TT PSU unit went on the blink and is being serviced at Rega in California. These power supply units are individually tuned to each turntable. We shipped the PSU down there with $2k of shipping insurance!

SLF, the driver that speaker lab sold for the bass bins was not near as good as the Crites is for it . And with a 2" wood horn and BMS 4592 they are simply insane now.

Ooops, didn't realise you had mentioned the power supply a few posts back.
