Dan...After reviewing the build BOM, R42 on the backplane boards should not be populated. We had tried both populated and unpopulated versions and the unpopulated is now the official version. It had been prior to your amp being built, but the brain was not engaged that day, and subsequent days for that matter.
The consequences if having R42 in is higher frequency distortion products and asymmetry in the drives. Very easy to cure. Leave R42 in and solder a cut off lead around the R42 in place. You will have to drop the driver board out of the way to get to the left channel R42. Be sure the big caps have bled off.

Sorry for any inconvenience. Tony, yours was right in the time this was discussed so I don't know if yours needs it or not. You'll have to let me know.

I take it to mean solder a wire so that r42 is bypassed.

Where is r42

I like hearing everybody take on there WOPL 's. I can't wait for the killer classic bitch to arrive..
I have the amp opened up and loosened the driver board but for the life of me I don't see r42 nor do I see it on the schematic. I think I am confused as to which board you are talking about. There are two boards that connect to the transistors and one board that is behind the vu meters.. A picture would be nice. I have located a horizontal resistor near j5 that looks like it is r42 but the resistor covers the id mark. Is that it?

Gotta ask about those speakers... What are they ??? Are they the only two on that 400 ?
They were used in a home theater and were designed to be mounted on the wall. They are two way and fit perfectly on the shelf. The phase linear is loafing driving them. I can barely get the meters to move and then its too loud. Made by B&W. The sound is very nice. The turntable is an audio tecnica pl120 usb that I committed surgery on. Removed the built in phono and usb out and wired the arm directly to the rca cables and then into the 4000 preamp. Very clear sound with no grit or grain from the inexpensive at cartridge.:thebirdman:
