Were he and Tommy bolin in the James Gang at the same time??
Never heard that - Bolin shows up on James Gang LPs after Joe left. although interesting that Bolin was in a Denver based band Zephyr while Joe was in Ohio with the James Gang. So they both had Colorado ties at different times. Bolin was lead guitar Deep Purple's 1975 record - Come Taste The Band.

Tommy was all over the place, I had thought if those two were in the same place at the same time, doin the same thing it would have been a disaster or manna from heaven. No in between. Both Alpha Dog front men so that 's not a good combo for band longevity...

Ed has some stories about those folks at that time. Mike the drummer had worked at Phase Linear and the sound boys were brothers that went out with the sisters, something like that....it was at least an hour story....man I don't know how he does it, but he can tell ya all about the Seattle hi fi and rock scene ....A LOT....

The low frequencies and synthesizer notes on Magic Man are jaw-dropping/crushing here on this Nautilus pressing. Demo material for sure. This was a 2nd listen to this LP. The original Mushroom pressing is incredible on it's own, not sure how you beat it and I haven't done a side by side comparison.

Yeah the drummer went to my high school. I knew his brother through friends and I recall that we hung out a couple of times listening to music in the family basement which was full of drums and instruments. Never met Mike or those sisters though...they were 5 or 6 years older.
