The Photobucket service is down for maintenance at the moment and I recorded a video tonight, but can't post it here, yet, without my account being accessible. At last, I have my stereo room back and I moved the Sony deck upstairs in a temporary position in the stand.

Despite all the fun I have with my FX330, I will have a closer look this weekend to another deck that is for sale :

After all the nice experiences I had with my GX-52 (which I sold some weeks ago) it would be nice to put the bar a bit higher with this very hard to find GX-6.....

Miles: An Akai GX-6 isn't a model I have heard of before now. Clean looks and a good deck spec-wise. If you do decide to buy it you will be obligated to showing it off...but no Nana M. this time around, OK.

Although I have been listening to Tony's progressive rock mix tape a few times through on my downstairs system, last night was my first opportunity to unleash this beast on my main system. I hope to get a few feedback comments on Tony's mix posted in the appropriate thread, possibly by this weekend.

#1 attribute of a great-flowing mix is the theme. Tony spent some time creating this set-list - I suspect he might have even given more time in picking the tracks in the right order for each of the sides a few times over before he committed to recording from the Master to tape. That's much appreciated.

Well Nando,

Your tower of equipment is getting higher and higher. Can you still reach the controls of the 950ES when it's on top of it all, or do you operate it by remote?

My latest additions

Since you guys are making so much noise lately, let me show you what I've been doing too. Look at this:

My Z 7000 just came back from Russ Bachman at NJFS after repairs.

I found this Revox B 226 Signature to match my B 215 S. A black magic pair...

Another look of this beauty. The sound is even better.

The killer duo: Revox B 215S and Revox B 226 Signature. You have to hear a tape recorded with this pair.

This is how my living room system looks now. I'm still waiting for my Nak 700 ZXE, another NAD 6300 and a Dragon.

Enjoy!

Carlos: That's quite a dream system. The matching Revox CDP to your Revox B 215 S is a great find. And you are looking for a Teac Z6000 to round off your collection of the Teac Z line of decks?

I emailed you a couple of pictures to add to your web site. It looks like you will have to add a few more of your own.

Miles, it's ridiculously high. That's why I want to disassemble it all and reconfigure my system. But, I do want to keep all dark coloured components on one side of the stand and silver-faced gear on the opposite side - like chocolate and vanilla. Right now, it's like Neapolitan.

He sits on a huge woofer box to reach it :evil4:
Derek: Hah, you've seen that picture, have you?

Three Sony components stacked on top of a Elite foundation is quite a treat.
Plus I am honored that you keep sharing samples with the rest of the crew.
And yes, of all the tapes I've arranged in the last several years, this particular tape drove me bonkers figuring out the right flow.
Especially Side A. It also marks the first time I dove deep into playing around with the Sound Forge Pro tools relative to cross fading while
sorting out a Master. Timing on cross-fades is a magical thing once you hit the right decays, ramps and beat match.

Yes, I saw it. It'll be add shortly. Yes, only the 6000 is missing...and it's getting very hard to find. The Z series were not sold in good numbers due to high price and due to the Nakamichi Dragon. I believe Teac didn't recuperate the investment of research and development from the limited Z series sales. Too bad because these monsters are really a technological tour d' force. The only thing Nak could claim is totally better than the Z 7000 are their heads. That's where the real difference is, otherwise the Dragon would run circles around the Teac's 40 lbs. behemoth. Ha!
