A few? Dollars more...

Besides the astronomical prices of concert tickets this is another trick to get the business standing straight...

I don't mind paying more for a piece of music that I like, but I draw the line at concerts which have become too expensive.

It is quite rare for me to go and watch a live band these days.

A Farewell To Kings

Some of you will know that my analogue credentials are a little shaky. They are soon to become non-existent!

Having finally decided to exit all things cassette, I have now selected the tapes I'm going to save and those that I will try and sell. I'll reveal which ones I kept at a later date.

It is however, beginning to dawn on me that this is the end of an era. I have had a truly brilliant time messing about with the humble compact cassette through the years.

The simple truth is that I am not prepared to spend any more money on this format. I have spent the last few months looking for a decent deck but despite a healthy budget, I have been unable to source one to my satisfaction.

Instead of pulling the trigger on an inferior machine, I have come to the conclusion that it is probably best to pull the plug completely. There were a number of other considerations, but I'm pretty sure that I won't regret this move - although I will greatly miss making & trading mix tapes.

Zeros and ones all the way from here onwards...

Does that mean you will finally buy an MD recorder Darren :)
Well Pat,

You get top marks for pushing the MD format!

As you will be aware from my Tapeheads days, I was a big fan of MD despite not having any hands-on experience. It has always been something that I have been curious about.

To be honest, I think getting into MiniDiscs at this stage is unlikely. My future audio plans will involve some kind of streaming device.

I shall let the rest of you guys hoover up all the retro/vintage stuff that remains out there.

Daren: It's time to say "Goodnight My Ferrous Friends." You had no pretensions you were about to get re-immersed into compact cassette, so it comes as not too harsh a decision you've made. I am interested in which path you take, and I look forward to what's in store in your musical recording aspirations. Love those parting pictures, Daren.

Damn, I just picked up a beauty of a cassette deck, today. More to follow, as I get used to knowing how to operate it.

Those Sony's are very easy to operate Nando; "plug in and roll..."

Miles: No problem operating it, but many cassette decks have different ways of bias and level calibration for tape recording optimization. That's what I am scrutinizing at the moment. It has been playing for the past few hours with a few different mix tapes.

Tony: I don't mean to be suspenseful, but I like to prepare a nice little thread when I have time. A teaser shot:

Congratulations!
I'll assume your mix tape demo + whatever else went rather well considering the outcome.
I eagerly await reading your thread coverage when it hits the presses so-to-speak.

Thanks Tony and Ben. I should have the story posted tomorrow. In an unexpected twist of fate, I didn't get a chance to demo the deck, although I brought everything needed to do so.

You're very welcome my Analog Adventurist friend.
Looks pristine Nando.
Nice camera angle too!
I'm really happy for you and hope every facet of ownership, from learning the nuances to creating tapes (with the beast!) is everything & more...
