Actually after reading through the entire thread and looking at all the pictures it really amazes me how much goes into one of these beasts. I don't know much about soldering and board work but it sure looks super neat to me, great job Lee. First power up would be a bit nerve racking I bet. Must be rewarding to see those super test figures after all that hard work though and the owners face when they first hear it.

The engraver I use does plastic sheets only. It will not do plexi glass. Or a total go through. It's designed for back pan tags/legend plates that are used in electrical panels. I could makea plactic engraved replacement top exactly like the original with the etching already in it but...........a plastic engraved top........ I think may not sit well with heat from inside an amp I'll bet. A see through plexi top is a neat idea.

My labels are basic and intended for the many conversions that Lee will probably do this year. They are to perhaps be stuck on the inside of the amp as a means to identify a "modification". To replace the yellow sticky notes he uses. Something nice for him. Anything more extravagant and flashy will like he said, be up to the customer. As they can do with it what they want. Not all may want to replace an original amp top. So a small legend plate like this will be easy for him to put in the amp. He can let me know what exactly what he wants it to say and look like. THESE are just beginner samples.

Sure you can have one if you want Johan. But you don't have to BUY it from me. Just shoot me a PM. The rest will go to Lee. :thumbright:

Throw out the dynamic output rating, it means nothing. Amp section distortion specs are GOOD. Power appears to be 150 watts into 8 before clipping.. The 4 ohm and 2 ohm rating show the power supply is not up to the task of doubling power into 4 ohms and then doubling again into 2 ohms, WHICH is what a properly desighed power supply should provide to the amp section. A lot of factors come into play when you see a rolloff of power into the lower ohm loads. Output devices having a limited current rating, transformer compromises, caps, etc.
A commercial application of any audio desigh is going to be a series of compromises, in essence it has to be to be a commercial success. Therein lies the niche for folks like Joe and his "take no prisoners " approach to his kits.He specs the very best components that he can reliably get, withthe result being what most of you have heard....exceptional sound quality. It does take a lot of effort on the implementation side to make it happen, but the cost savings are worth the effort and it's been shown time and again with the upfront engineering of Joe's, and some situationasl, and personal supervision it can be done by a wide spectrum of folks with varying degrees of expertise.

Sorry for not answering more of your question Jase, tuners and pre sections are still pretty foreign to me, but felt qualified to comment on the amp section...
