While we shake down Johan's Wopl 1000, we'l take care of this pre. Came in for BUZZ. Recap, op-amp swap, eliminate the ceramics, de-oxit, and whatever else it takes..
I couldn't believe it when I got it how clean it was. And had all original paperwork also!! In a phase linear box even!!
glad to see it on the block! Thanks lee
The parts list says there's another one. Z6 is 78L12
Interesting on the 3800 they use different ICs for the different phono inputs. MC = 5532. MM=5534. In the notes on the 3800 schematic is says Z1-Z4 are
RAY4156,NEC4741 or equivalent.
78L12 sounds like a voltage regulator... That's why I wanted Joe to see the schemo, perhaps he could shed some light on why the MM section was treated differently than the MC section...
I bought the 3600 ($130 + freight) + a 3800 ($212 + freight) within a couple days of each other in Feb.
The 3800 has a spot that requires some paint repair. Haven't gotten around to fixing that yet.
I actually haven't hooked either pre up yet. Just plugged them in and powered them up to see what would happen.
