What a concerted effort from around the world to give Derek something unique that might cause him to wet his pants. This is a great gesture, Lee and George! If you dare to get to noon on the preamp dial, Derek, those sweep analog needles will begin to undulate. I was mesmerized by that. It's pretty exciting, even as a backbencher, to see how this thread evolves. Like an unborn child, maybe you should start considering favourite names to call it, Derek.

Good idea. So whats it like hearing that cracking sound and then deafening silence?
I have blown up other electric stuff when I was much younger. Also had an old UPS which caught on fire when testing battery mode. Problem was the batteries kept providing the power even after I pulled the mains cord. So it got dragged outside. Oh and a washing machine, motor smoking, was funny seeing me drag that sucker out.

… as far as wearing diapers is concerned, may I suggest you sit in a big garbage bag tied tightly round the neck. You're gonna need to change it at least once too! ;)

Took me a while, but I understand what you mean by brown notes now. The ones that get 'thrown' at you nice and clear.
 
D2, the 'brown note' is the frequency at which one loses the control of their bowels….

(anything under around 10 cycles per second is considered capable of doing that, although I think 6Hz is the actual one.)
 
I never understood why a friend once said "If you take your daily shit in the morning, its going to be a good day". Now I'm older I understand why, because the day can be rather rough with an irritable bowel. Maybe get a brown note tone generator put in the toilet for those days when things don't go to plan. :pottytrain1:

I had that happen with a Sansui 3000A, somehow the phones survived.
 
UPDATE:

The 'deceased' CB PL700 II, was sent today ex-SYD, and on it's way to MEL. (finally.)
I should have it around Tuesday.

More updates as they come to hand.
