Broken beyond repair but highly affable

The news is out and David Letterman made the anticipated move during the taping of his Late Show on CBS Television that at some unnamed point in 2015 he and sidekick/bandleader Paul Shaffer will wrap up a career that has spanned more than 32 years and two networks and virtually rewrote the formula of late-night talk show formulas.

Did I just say that? Because my language arts teacher would look at me strangely...if they were not deceased. I'm quite serious! Talk about a subtle yet hideous mangling of diction!

WELL!

...anyway, it's sad but true. The 66 year old comedy legend has decided to pass the torch on to the next passenger in the Cash Cab and by God, they had better get the questions right and make it to the Ed Sullivan Theatre.

And in one of the few times I really wish to guide you toward a Yahoo! link, I give you further details along with a real hootenanny of a standup sketch from the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson...you'll laugh more than once if you watch it twice, trust me, you have no choice :evil3:

Glad that Liberal Ass Hat Douche Nozzle is finally taking a Hike,,,maybe that Socialist Ex Mayor Buddy of his will give him a Job:wave:
A little extreme there? If you don't like the guy don't watch him. Since when did anyone start taking talk show hosts political leanings as the word of God? I don't watch the program becasue I don't think he is funny, but he was able to host a show for more then thirty years so he must have done something correctly. :rabbit:

I don,t watch him I quit because of his constant attacks on anything conservative his ass kissing of Bloomberg and that Moron we have for a President, I watched letterman for years until he started with his politcal BS ,,at least Leno had the class to poke fun at both sides equally..Don't think for a second that people can't be influenced by what they see on TV or hear on the Radio we only have to look at Minnesota politics to prove that theory

When Letterman first debuted, we watched regularly. He was still young and off-the-hinge funny.
Once the 90's rolled in, he got a bit more sophisticated at crafting humor but still pushed boundaries.
Then you could notice in the 2000's that he sort of ran out of steam. Maybe the heart stuff really did a number on his head.
Haven't watched him in a long time. Like many comedians, he got too wrapped up in politics.
Paul Shaffer is a knucklehead side-kick too!

Conan is way more our style! :glasses8:

Really miss Johnny Carson...

And they all had big problems and they are all dead, of course. Comedy is not pretty.

We live in a Hollywood society, they certainly influence everything strongly. The POTUS has figured that out very well and is the way he spreads the talking points of the day.

Many on-the-street interviews prove that US residents (crossed out citizens) know everything about what Kim Kardashian is doing to Jay-Z but have no clue who even one senator is or even how many senators we have. Hollywood matters big time in the propaganda war.

This is an awful state of affairs.

Thomas Jefferson stated that as you crave security you give up liberty, the abilty to make your own decisions, to make your own destiny, same with the school systyem, TO MAKE IT FAIR, INSTEAD OF REVELLING IN EXCELLENCE, WE'LL ROT IN MEDIOCRITY!!! aMERICA DID NOT BECOME WHAT IT IS BECAUSE WE WERE PLEASED OR CONTENT WITH MEDIOCRITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
