Wyn is working on a new power amp...

He's working out the 10AWG air core inductor for the Zobel network currently... 30 amps is correct.

we need an independant lab to prove it is putting out 30 amps. Don't believe everything you read or hear, even IF you want to believe.

The only thing that will handle the 30m amps is the cloths dryer cord it plugs in to the wall with. That's a story for Esops Fables (Or Bob Carvers adventures in gadgets book).

I guess we'll see what shakes out.

"Each channel has a total of 8 LM 3886s (4 per side), and, if the simulations are to be believed, can drive a pair of ML electrostatics and also conventional speakers.
In order to do this, and keep the amp stable at HF, the output has a "Zobel" network (as per the datasheet, simulations, etc.) consisting of an inductor, a couple of resistors, and a capacitor. The inductor for this is a 12 turn 10AWG hand wound coil. The winding takes place on a 10mm diameter drill bit shank and the coil "length" is 20mm. As the coil is intended to handle up to 30A, it will obviously need some consideration as to how to mount it etc."

Yeah, a 10ga inductor MAY be able to handle 30 amps but nothing else in there will. I'll have Lucy 'splain it to me.

Should look pertty goofy with heat sinks big as my couch trying to keep it cool. I'll see you at the amp reveal, Maybe we can get that black dude to punch the MC for a little press...........

Yeah, I have to ask how much heat is expected to need removing... I can easily see the heatsinks being 18-24" square per side... Some sort of small box in the center with twin towers of heatsinks rising into the heavens... should sharpen their tips and add an LED eye in the middle:

Now yer talkin Jim. But when the uglies come marching into your shop and you cant find your ring to make you disappear, run like hell brother............

Your heat sinks are going to be bigger than my Load Bank heat sinks which are 12" x 18"

I finally get it, just like those 4000w car amps from JCWhitney for $29.99
Used to enjoy 100 lb amplifiers we used to lug around in the band days, not so much anymore, my SX-1980 is on a low enough shelf where I may never hoist it up on the bench again. Go for the lightweight chip design sir :)

Okay it works out to 1000 watts with no losses dead shorted.

About 125 watts into 8 ohms and 400 into 2 ohms. On paper.

NOW were getting somewhere.... I was just going to yank the dryer cord and send it to you.

Ebay has a bunch of 1000 watt amps for 6 bucks and the size of a ciggy butt pack..... They are way smarter than me.
